恒生银行创立于1933年，以香港及中国内地为业务重心，并为超逾三分之一的香港市民提供服务。
本行在香港设有超过一百四十五间分行与自助理财中心，在中国内地则设有十五个业务据点，包括七间分行（位于北京、上海、广州、深圳、福州、南京及东莞）、七间支行（五间在上海、一间在广州及一间在深圳）及一间代表处（位于厦门），同时在澳门设有分行及在台北设有办事处。

恒生银行在2004年5月以现金总额人民币十七亿二千六百万元〔约港币十六亿二千六百万元〕购入兴业银行15.98%的股权。

截至2006年6月底，本行之集团总资产为港币六千二百八十三亿元，而2006年上半年及2005年全年之股东应得溢利，则分别为港币六十二亿元及港币一百一十三亿元。

Founded in 1933, HANG SENG BANK focuses its business on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and mainland China markets. The Bank serves more than one-third of the population in Hong Kong.
The Bank operates over 145 branches and automated banking centres in Hong Kong, and a network of 15 Mainland outlets, including seven branches (in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Nanjing and Dongguan); seven sub-branches (five in Shanghai, one in Guangzhou and one in Shenzhen) and one representative office (in Xiamen). It also has a branch in Macau and a representative office in Taipei.
In May 2004, Hang Seng acquired a 15.98% stake in Industrial Bank for RMB1.726 billion (HK$1.626 billion).  

With consolidated assets of HK$628.3 billion as at 30 June 2006, the Bank reported a profit attributable to shareholders of HK$6.2 billion for the first six months of 2006, and HK$11.3 billion in 2005.
