Job Title: Supply Chain Development, Project Manager Department: Sourcing Group Reports To: General Manager, ISCO Number: 1
Responsibilities 1. This position is responsible for collaborating across the organization in order to reduce material costs in products and achieve both short-term and long-term savings.
2. Lead and manage cross-functional product cost reduction (Value Engineering) efforts and projects.
3. Interact with New Product Development Engineering, Sustain (current product) Engineering, Global Sourcing, Suppliers (all tiers), Test Lab, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.
4. Analyze product and component designs to improve product functionality and reduce cost using the following techniques: material substitution or standardization, part-count reduction, design simplification, manufacturing process simplification, etc.
5. Serve as technical resource and as a liaison to other technical function resources.
6. Serve as a business strategy/leadership/project management resource.
7. Support the Value Engineering program and educate functional groups and new product development teams on the Value Engineering approach (Cost-Function Matrix and Function-Logic Map, etc.).
8. Lead complex strategic make/buy decisions involving products, components and services.
Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering from four-year college or university;
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Other Qualifications Desired * Multilingual preferred. *Proven results leading challenging engineering related projects. *Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and finance. *Strong project management skills. *Formal training in progressive management techniques (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.). *CAD experience (Solid Edge, etc.). *Knowledge of UL, FDA, IEC, and other design requirements.
