JOB DESCRIPTION
Institutional Corporate Marketing (ICM) is a global group that performs an intermediary role between companies, their shareholders and target investors. The key objective of the group is to facilitate institutional client access to senior management of the region’s most important companies through external relationship building and by using the Morgan Stanley internal network (e.g. Equity Research and the Investment Banking Division (IBD) relationships)
In Asia Pacific the group is cross-divisional, reporting into IBD, IED (Institutional Equity Division) and Equity Research. The group’s main functions are:
To connect institutional investors to company management via high impact Investor Relations (IR) events: - Company visit schedules (fieldtrips) within Asia for institutional clients (investors) - Investor forums and conferences - Company roadshows into Asia, Europe and the US to meet with current and potential shareholders.
To provide key corporates with information regarding their stock and factors affecting its price movement.
To provide IR advisory services to the firm’s most important corporate clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role in Shanghai is specifically focused on building corporate relations within China and providing investor clients with access to local company management
- Build out corporate contacts in China and develop relationships at the investor relations level
- Provide updates to top corporate clients with information on stock flows, market / stock specific news and investor perceptions
- Provide ad hoc investor relations advisory services to companies on investor targeting, communications strategy and equity market developments
- Keep abreast of market conditions and factors affecting the corporates covered
- Gain general knowledge of MS research views both at the stock and strategy level
- Work closely with the research and equity sales teams to establish event ideas that are timely, value-added and tie in with investment themes
- Create and deliver China based company visit schedules for investors and accompany clients coming to China
- Market ICM events to the sales team and clients
- Oversee the logistics and running of China local ICM events
- Collate investor feedback post company meeting and relay back to company
- Produce company visit notes post fieldtrip, and prepare a post-mortem for sales
- Coordinate China ICM activities with the regional team
SKILLS - Outgoing and a confident communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills - A keen sense of self initiative and project ownership
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Understanding of the marketing process / investor relations
- Fluent in English and Mandarin - excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Strong oral and visual presentation skills
- Strong technology skills: Excel, PowerPoint and Word (MS Project would be an advantage)
- Financial background would be an advantage EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelors Degree
