Harmony Java 5 Class Library Development: (Job Code: HARMONY20060925intern)

Job Description: 
Open-source, widely viewed as a way for the development community to 
participate in the evolution of software that's owned by nobody but shared 
by everyone, has been now a competitive weapon of IBM. IBM is now the giant 
standing between Linux and what the open-source community sees as a 
Microsoft front company bent on destroying their free paradise. As the 
biggest sponsor, donator and contributor to support open source 
organizations, IBM has annouced to fully support Apache Project Harmony 
(in***org[点击查看] , the J2SE project of the Apache 
Software Foundation, in its incubation phase. We wish to make this a world 
class, certified J2SE implementation.

The aim of the project is to produce a large and healthy community of those 
interested in runtime platforms tasked with: 
- Create a compatible, independent implementation of J2SE 5 under the 
Apache License v2 
- Create a community-developed modular runtime (VM and class library) 
architecture to allow independent implementations to share runtime 
components, and allow independent innovation in runtime components.

You will work with Harmony Shanghai team to undertake J2SE 5 class library 
open source implementation and related testing work.

Qualifications:
- Passion to work as a professional software engineer, good communication 
skill, team player 
- Excellent written/spoken English 
- Graduate student or PHD candidate

Desired Experience:
- Extensive knowledge and working experience in Java/C/C++ Development 
- Familar with the testing principle and practice, especially unit testing 
skills and methods. Expierience on test driven development
- Profound understandings on JDK and related JVM theories
- Profound understandings on compiler theory and design
- Familar with the following Linux and Windows operating systems
- Experience in following products, such as Eclipse, Subversion, CVS, 
Bugzilla, JUnit, Ant, etc. 

Technical Skills:
Skill 1: JAVA/C/C++ development experience - 5
Skill 2: TDD experience and theory - 4
Skill 3: JVM & Compiler theory and design -3
Skill 4: Windows, Linux, Unix (AIX, Solaris) - 3 

Non-Technical Skills:
Skill 1: Passion to work as a professional test engineer, good commun - 4
Skill 2: Excellent written/spoken English - 5

Skill Level Description:
1 - No experience, limited knowledge;
2 - Very limited experience, has general knowledge only;
3 - Has performed independently in routine situations, can perform with 
assistance, has applied knowledge;
4 - Repeated experience without assistance, has in-depth knowledge, can 
direct other in performing;
5 - Extensive and comprehensive experience, comprehensive knowledge, can 
give expert advice and lead others to perform.
