New York -- 5
Washington -- 1
Manhattan --3
Central Park -- 4
Empire State Building -- 4
Times Square -- 4
Statue of Liberty -- 4
Battery Park -- 3
Trinity Church -- 3
New York/New York/Trinity Church.

The Big Apple North America ? United States ? New York ? New York ? Manhattan By Chuppa April 18th 2006 Side view of Trinity Chruch The journey from Washington to New York was not very long, only four hours in total! When we arrived we thought we would get on the metro as had been told it was very simple! What a lie! Well I expect that when half the lines are not closed it would be easy but as we were even wrongly directed by an attendant it was not easy!!!!!! It is even worse than the tube in London on a weekend. Once having eventually changed trains about four times we found our hostel, with a few directions offered to us from people who must have read the ‘where the hell am I look’ on our faces! I am not too bad at directions and finding my way around, however this trip is made a bit harder as Thommo has not any sense of direction! One day we walked up a street for quite a few blocks, after a while Thommo declared ‘I think we are just going around in circles!!!’ I had to explain that we had not taken a left or a right turn at any point!!! It is all good fun though and we are getting used to taking longer to On top of the RockerFella Centre Bit windy!!! find things. We had to stay in separate dorms! The hostel is the biggest in America but was fully booked over the Easter weekend. It was ok as we got to talk to loads of people but it was annoying having to pre arrange when to meet up etc. And the bunk I had felt like it was going to fall apart when I clambered to the top! The rooms were clean though so it was good! That night we went and had a gourmet sandwich at subway! How classy! It was actually really satisfying! Thommo had some nice blokes staying in his dorm so we joined them for a few beers across the road from our hostel in a Mexican restaurant. Most of the nice people we meet leave the next day!!! Sod’s law I think! The next day we got up and decided to go and see if we could visited the statue of Liberty. What a mistake! After messing around on the metro for nearly an hour we finally found our way to Battery Park, where you buy the tickets. The queue was three hours long, so we decided to leave it till the next Central Park from Rockerfella Centre What a view! day and get there earlier. We walked uptown and came across a nice looking pub so we ventured in for a refreshing drink of Amaretto and coke and some tunes on the jukebox. The pub, named O’Hare, was very near to the Ground Zero site. The bar man was kind enough to show us some photo’s. It looks so horrific! The photo’s we saw were not like any I had seen on TV. Some of them were excellent pictures of such a terrible time. The pub was shut for 6 months but managed to re open very quickly in comparison to a lot of places. Was great to talk to someone involved instead of just stand and look at the site. We then found the Trinity Church and looked around that for a while and took a quick glimpse at Wall street. We headed up to Times Square to take a look around and ended up going up the Rockerfella Centre and looked out over New York. I didn’t realise quite how long Central Park is. What a great place, lots going on, even a zoo!! We went to the Hard Rock Caf?for yet cocktails, yum yum. After meeting Empire State Building Shame we missed going up it. Ed for dinner, in Chelsea , we headed back to Time Square and visited Planet Hollywood. Both the Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood have some great memorabilia! It was nice to see Times Square but so busy and people just stop dead in front of you! Thommo got a photo of the naked cowboy, I missed him! The next day we headed to the Statue of Liberty. Again we turned up too late for entry to the Statue but we decided to go anyway. The view of New York City from it was lovely. We meet up with Nicolene after the ride and went to lunch in Applebee’s, lovely meal! That night we all laughed a lot at a comedy show at Inprov. The following day we visited the Zoo in Central Park, then walked past the Dakota building. Did a bit of shopping, including getting lost looking for Abercrombie and Fitch store. Some young males with no tops on and posing for pictures with tourists greeted our eyes when going in, didn\'t get a picture though. That evening we wanted to go up the Empire State Building, see the city at night. But when we got Us on Liberty Island there at 10 they said it was closed! Last entry should have been 11 15, but due to overcrowding they closed earlier!!! Thommo actually stomped his foot his disappointment, I was quite gutted too! So we headed to the Hard Rock Caf?to sample some more cocktails instead. After breakfast the next morning, we set off to Canada. Onwards to Montreal….. Time Square Ed, Thommo and me Statue of Liberty Central Park Zoo Polar Bears! Central Park Thommo and Ed on a rock
