Web Developer Job Requirements:
- Layout design elements with divs and lists
- Use tables only when appropriate
- Use good class and id names (not colors, etc.)
- Often work around IE
- Familiar with relative and absolute positioning
- Familiar with 'sliding doors', 'min-height prop' and other useful techniques
- Familiar with creating dropdown menus for navigation
- Can research problems and solutions on the web
- Experience in hand-coding HTML, xhtml, CSS and javascript for database driven web applications
- Experience in producing cross-browser, standards-based, CSS-driven layouts for browser and printed formats
- Experience in using javascript and the DOM to manipulate forms, content, layout, and display or not display elements as required
- Experience with Photoshop, or Fireworks to cut images from completed designs
- Proven track-record of strong design principles and adherence to complex design specifications throughout the development life cycle
- Experience in testing across multiple browsers and platforms to ensure conformance to requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at both a business and technical level
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce technical documentation
- Self motivated and focused, with a positive outlook and excellent organizational skills
Preferred experience:
- Experience working with PHP, Ajax a big plus
- Demonstrated experience designing complex web applications; advertising, content management or e-commerce application experience a plus
- Experience with UI design, information architecture and/or graphic design
- Experience working in a rapid development environment
Web Developer Specific Duties
- Be responsible for maintaining and streamlining all aspects of xHTML and CSS
- Create CSS and xHTML standards
- Work closely with product management, marketing and engineering to map out user models, streamline experiences, and produce both high-level flows and detailed xHTML mockups
- Transform high level product ideas and mock ups into working xHTML / CSS
- Juggle several projects at once in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
- Be a persuasive advocate for the end-user
