Two Research Assistant positions are immediately available in Department of Bu
ilding and Construction, City University of Hong Kong. The successful applican
t will join our research team to work in one of the following areas: (1) smart
 materials and structures; (2) mechanics of composite structures; (3) biomater
ials and biomechanics; and (4) nonlinear vibration of cracked structures. 

The perspective candidates should hold at least a Master degree and have good 
knowledge of solid mechanics, composite materials and numerical modeling techn
iques. Experience with finite element modeling will be regarded as an asset bu
t not essential. The appointee needs to be industrious, used to delivery of wo
rk to time, and have the potential to work under supervision. The contract is 
initially for 6-12 months with possible extension depending on research perfor
mance. The monthly salary scale is commensurate with appointee’s qualificatio
ns and experience. The research work may also lead to a PhD scholarship (aroun
d HK$ 12,300 per month) in CityU for the appropriate appointee.
