Summary
Discover and explore the exciting new technologies that will shape the information infrastructure of the future as a member of the new corporate research team at EMC’s R&D Center in Shanghai, China. We’re looking for applied researchers with a vision for the information landscape of the future, and a passion for building toward that vision through practical research results.
EMC Labs is the new technical research organization of EMC Corporation (ww***com[点击查看]), the world leader in products, services, and solutions for information management and storage. Consisting initially of RSA Labs (the research center of RSA, The Security Division of EMC), the EMC Labs team in Shanghai, and funded university research initiatives, the new organization aims to provide long-term research advances for EMC in the information industry at large. Dr. Burt Kaliski, founding scientist of RSA Labs, leads the program and is directly involved in building the team in Shanghai.
Research areas of interest broadly span the information infrastructure of the future: How to make the most sense of the immense and growing variety of information across everyday life and business, and how to manage the resources that process that information.
Position Description
Pursue research in multiple areas of long-term strategic interest in the information sciences, under the direction of EMC Labs’ research scientists
Publish research results in international conferences and journals
Participate in professional activities such as conference program committees and journal refereeing
Collaborate with university researchers on selected projects
Review research with colleagues across EMC Labs and recommend new areas to pursue
Lead practical aspects of research projects such as software prototyping, statistical analysis, and project presentation
Report on progress to EMC management and customers
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, math or related areas of information science
Demonstrated research initiative including independent contributions to research projects resulting in publications in international conferences and/or journals
Effective problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills in spoken and written form, including English
Career orientation toward an academic environment within a commercial organization, combining the best of theory and practice
