1 : Job Purpose Statement
The Product Engineer is a product specialist who is responsible for production support engineering with respect to designing, developing and making of circuit products and assemblies, processes and quality, and relate them with customers' expectation & servicing.
2 : Principal Accountabilities
Key Results Areas
a. Design new products based on Company and customers鈥?nbsp;requirements.
b. Develop new products & production processes
c. Establish quality standard for new products
d. Define methods and standards for process engineers and estimate manpower requirements
e. Identify methods & standards to improve product quality and productivity
f. Work closely with customers to understand their requirements & expectation, also to understand their constraints.
g. Able to work within the BU to provide overall customers support and management.
h. Able to analyze customers returns & feedback
i. Work closely with Process Engineering team in trouble shooting and establishing standards
j. Establish test and inspection criteria for each product released to manufacturing.
k. Work with supply chain management to define BOM and subsequently work to continually reducing BOM costs.
l. Work closely with technology and manufacturing teams to qualify new materials for production.
m. Manage the product qualification process (i.e. PPAP).
n. Use advance product qualification process (APQP) in the pre-production environment.
o. Continually identify ways to increase value add content.
p. Understand modules/subsystems and engineer product reflecting the same.

a. New products design, development and making
b. Effective and efficient in products & production- with a target yield of 95%
c. Total customer satisfaction.
d. BOM costs as a percentage of sales
e. Gross profitability of each part number
3 : Reporting Relationship
Product engineers are hired into each BU from a pool of process engineers or from the outside based on experience and academic training. They report to the VP and GM of BU or under a BU director in China.

6 : Job Requirements
Professional Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering. Chemical engineering would also be
satisfactory.
Skills & Knowledge
Good technical understanding with in depth understanding of internal processes.
Strong know-how in FPC, PTF and assembly technologies including through hole and SMT
Knowledgeable in plastics and JE/SB products.
Knowledge and understanding of specific products and industry concerned, such as Appliance, Computers, Automotives, Medical etc
Good knowledge of quality engineering
People oriented
Excellent customers servicing and management skills
Good communication skills (written and oral)
Prior relevant experience in PCB industry is essential
Good analysis and problem solving skills
