POSITION SUMMARY:
An intermediate level software and systems engineering position.  Individual m
ay be assigned tasks in all areas of software development and support based on
project schedules.  Assigned tasks will be generally defined within specific
areas of a project with the intention of allowing the individual to further de
velop engineering skills in the area of software applications and systems deve
lopment.  Project responsibilities will increase to include multiple tasks.  T
he individual is under direct supervision, with a goal to develop independent
project management and leadership skills.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
•Works with assigned project leaders to define assignments, schedules, q
uality expectations, and other project criteria.
•Estimates specific project efforts.
•Completes all assignments in a timely manner, seeking help as necessary
from appropriate sources.
•Tracks and reports assignment progress as defined by project leaders.

•Establishes and maintains a high quality in submitted work.
•Properly handles company data and property.
•Practices proper business and professional ethics
•Conveys an acceptable corporate image.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Individual applies existing education and work skills to the development and s
upport of software products in a directly supervised environment.  Specific du
ties include:
•Input into and evaluation of functional and design specifications.
•Input into project schedules pertaining directly to assignments.
•Design and implement multiple software and system components.
•Test and document software and system components.
•Adhere to established corporate development processes.
•Develop and execute unit and integration test plans.
•Confer with technical personnel outside the department and assist in th
e design of the system.
•Input into system test plans.
•Submit software components to quality assurance groups and subsequent f
ollow-up.
•Support of software and system components.
•Assist in routine (database management, version control, LAN issues) wo
rk and general support required of the department.
•Complete administrative duties as necessary including reporting hours w
orked, submission of status and expense reports, and related.
•Act as a resource to other software engineers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•Maintain a productive work environment.
•Set-up and maintain personal workstation and other tools as required.

•Obtain appropriate training to maintain skill level.
•Provide on-site (customer and local) support for products as required.

•Understand all process levels with varying capabilities to produce the
byproducts of those processes
•Identify and recommend improvements in system development processes.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Architecture, Electrica
l Engineering, or equivalent experience.  Two to five years work experience.


Experience in the following areas:
•C and C++ programming or equivalent structured language, as required fo
r the specific organization or project
•Structured software design.
•Real time operating systems
•Computer system hardware and architecture
•Communication architecture and protocols (async/sync, LAN/WAN’s, etc.)

•Object oriented design

Knowledge in the following areas:
•Software system component integration.
•Project management
•Global teamwork
