The primary function is to prepare well plans and support offshore operations in the implementation of these plans.
Accountabilities and End Results:
The position is required to work creatively within multi-disciplined well teams and with offshore drilling personnel to ensure wells are drilled and completed safely and cost effectively, meeting all designated objectives.
Primary Functions:
·Planning & implementation of drilling and related operations on contractor drilling units and COPC operated production installations. ·Develop detailed well plans working as an integral member of the multi-discipline well teams, following COPC's well planning process. ·Clearly communicate well objectives and requirements to service companies so they are able to fully support the operation. ·Ensure all work programs are written meeting COPC's Standards. ·Actively participate in COPC’s HSE initiatives. ·Work with Supply Chain group to ensure long lead equipment is correctly specified and ordered in a timely manner. ·Prepare detailed cost estimates and track actual costs. ·Continually analyse day-to-day operations to ensure drilling program is implemented inline with the well plan and highlight any possible modifications to the plan to ensure efficient operations. ·Capture lessons learnt and ensure best practices are shared with other ConocoPhillips operations. ·Continue to remain up to date with emerging technology which could benefit COPC’s drilling operations.
Critical Skills:
Technical Criteria:
·Well planning including directional drilling and drill string design ·Workover and cased hole operations (coiled tubing, e-line, slickline). ·Completion equipment design and selection is a benefit ·Knowledge of WellView and Maxwell ·Previous operational supervision is a benefit
Leadership Criteria:
·Must be able to be an effective member of multi-disciplinary team. This position requires close interaction with reservoir, production and completion engineers, geologists, service company personnel, and across other team boundaries. ·Creative, yet results oriented. Must be able to focus on customer needs to complete well plan. Good technical and business judgment. ·Takes initiative to identify new opportunities and tackle challenging issues. Must plan, organize and implement work efficiently. ·Strong communication / presentation skills are required. Communicating technical requirements within well teams, field teams, and vendors/service companies. ·Willingness to spend some time offshore.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports directly to the Well Operations Coordinator or Chief Drilling Engineer dependent on role in organisation. Takes functional guidance from the Chief Drilling Engineer.
