Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware (MACH) is an extension of Microsoft US hardware team that consists of teams responsible for hardware product development and manufacturing management.
Established in 2004, MACH has more than 80 members closely working with Redmond team to deliver assigned dev programs of hardware products including mice, keyboards, Webcams, Xbox controllers, gaming text input devices, and other PC and Xbox accessories for world markets.
Broad ownership and teamwork are highly promoted in MACH. The team is committed to create an open-minded, supportive and enjoyable working environment.
GEMS is a subsidiary of Comtech Corporation, a public traded NASDAQ company. GEMS is the partners of Microsoft in supporting the operation of the Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware. Job description & qualification (work location: Shenzhen):
001 Hardware Verification Engineer (6 vendor positions)
Job description:
• Creates complete design verification plans and executes the plans within schedules;
• review and understanding of industry standard specifications for interfaces such as USB2.0 and Bluetooth TM and review product specification, design analysis, performing risk analysis and developing contingency plans;
• Deliver product performance information to the rest of the team;
• Develop manufacturing test plans and integrate Manufacturing Test Equipment into the production environment effectively;
• Solid electrical engineering and data analysis practices will be required throughout the product cycle;
• Contribute to a high level of system design understanding in the interaction of firmware, standard computer interfaces such as PS2 and USB, wireless interfaces, software drivers and operating systems.
Deliverables:
Test equipment set up, Functional test procedure, Manufacturing test plan and test limits. Test reports, Test schedule; Test tool specifications, Test tools. , and ensuring the test team is thoroughly testing all aspects of the product.
Qualification:
Understanding of computer hardware design specifications, test development for board level electrical systems, performance of functional tests, documentation and analysis of test results
Ability to bring-up and debug test equipment, diagnostics and software required.
Coordination with external test resources, tracking of test units and communication with component suppliers are also key responsibilities.
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent is required

002 Electrical Engineer (4 vendor positions)
Job description:
• Review the design and documentation, and verification of microprocessor based analog and digital circuits, electro-optical circuits, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Ensuring compliance with various worldwide agency requirements, in particular Electro-Magnetic Compatibility.
Qualification:
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent is required
Able to design digital and analog circuits, perform PCB layout.
Experience with high-volume electronics production, including product qualification activities-EV, DV & Qual builds. Knowledge of current PCB assembly methods-SMT & TH.
Strong skill-set in analytical problem solving and decision-making.
Good English skills both in oral & written and willing/able to travel to USA.
003 EMC and Product Safety Engineer (1 vendor position)

Microsoft Hardware has been a market leader in PC mice and keyboards for over twenty years. We are now seeking an experienced EMC and Product Safety Engineer to influence hardware design, mitigate EMC and safety related issues and plan all the regulatory activities in order to enable sales in the global market place.
Job description:
• The EMC and Product Safety Engineer is responsible for EMC and Product Safety Compliance. They are the subject matter expert for all the Product Safety & EMC issues for Microsoft Hardware (PC & Peripherals).
• Work closely with other development engineers (Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, ASIC, Firmware and Industrial Design) as well as with other disciplines not related to engineering such as Product Planners, Marketing, User Assistance, Legal and Localization to ensure the product meets all expectations for more than 72 countries. Additionally, they will also develop Product Safety & EMC plans and is an expert at project planning (providing resource estimates for each program and manage actual spending).
• Other duties include obtaining worldwide regulatory approvals to meet project specific objectives, works with the EMC Manager and other disciplines to improve methods and processes by developing design guidelines, review check lists, procedures, templates, etc and collaborates with design and manufacturing partners as well as EMC and Safety vendors. The qualified candidate will engage with a portion of the Product Development team and is responsible for identifying and mitigating risk related to electrical safety.
Qualification:
• Highly motivated individual with strong project orientation and communication skill preferred.
• Expert-level safety and EMC standards and regulations applicable to I.T. equipment required.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills and also capable of delivering crisp content to to Senior Staff.
• Ability to work in a team environment utilizing strong cross-group collaboration skills.
• Experience dealing with and influencing worldwide regulatory agencies.
Education/Certification
• BSEE required. NARTE certification for EMC or Product Safety preferred.
004 Reliability & Component Engineer (1 vendor position)
Job description:
• Analyze product usage environment and review/modify reliability spec;
• Develop reliability test plan and ORT Matrix;
• Review design concepts, organize design FMEA and identify potential reliability concerns/issues;
• review and approve critical component specifications.
• Conduct or review reliability and component tests to validate the integrity of the design and manufacturing quality. Deliverables: Reliability spec, FMEA (reliability), List of potential design issues, Reliability test plans and reports, system On-going reliability (ORT) plan. Specs of critical components, component qualification and ORT reports.
Qualification:
• At least MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics;
• Fluent spoken and written English;
• Deep knowledge in statistics, failure analysis, design of experiment (DOE), design FMEA;
• Good English communication skills and willing/able to travel to USA.
005 Mechanical Engineer (2 vendor positions)
Job description:
• Mechanical design and review of new products and cost reduction engineering through re-design efforts;
• Mechanical support for production qualification and ongoing process enhancements through part and process consolidation, technology integration and component price negotiations;
• Design support and cycle time enhancement for Injection Mold and Metal Stamping Tool qualification;
• System and component level Thermal, Environmental and Agency Compliance development and qualification.
Deliverables:
• Product Spec input , ME schedule, Mechanical part drawings, Inspection drawings with critical parameters, Mechanical evaluation plan, PCB outline, ME technical objectives, BOM. Document control.
Qualification:
• Demonstrated recent Pro/Engineer experience, including injection molded part design;
• Demonstrated ability to work to schedule and give input to design reviews, ability to verify design and reliability through examination of test results, design troubleshooting skills including assembly debugging of both prototype and production parts, high volume manufacturing floor exposure.
• Demonstrated the ability to manage multiple design activities and development schedules;
• Proficiency in the use of file management tool (ex: Agile).
Manufacturing Test Engineer (1 vendor position)
Job Description:
Specifies, designs, develops, documents and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. Defines test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes test procedures for new products. Trains Operators and Technicians. This position will be responsible for ensuring that test solutions continue to grow to meet the needs of the product. The manufacturing test engineer will be responsible for following areas:
• Responsible for Manufacturing Test Engineering leadership in support and sustaining of production test systems and test processes in a very high volume contract manufacturing environment, develop and maintain software tools and diagnostics utilities for manufacturing
• Provide system test support and automation for NPI and production projects, develop test processes and instructions for production
• Continual review of test data and field failure analysis for test process and quality improvement. Daily monitoring of test data trends, test yields and yield improvement and applying SPC to improve overall manufacturing and product quality and processes.
• Train technicians on testing hardware and/or software, as well as proper problem solving techniques.
• Manage all Tier 1 test systems maintenance, including spare parts procurement, GR&R and test systems and tool qualification procedures.
• Assist in resolving test quality and systems related issues to avoid production downtimes and impact to product quality, may provide guidance to Tier 1 Test Engineering personnel. •
• Create/verify/audit test systems bill of materials, manufacturing test procedures and standard of operations manual for overall manufacturing test eco system
Qualification:
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology, or Test equivalent field of studies.
• A strong verbal and written communication skill is a must along with good interpersonal skills. Fluent in technical English.
• Strong Capability of Programming. Any one of below program language is must required: C++ 、VB、VC, LabView, Labwindows.
• Familiarity with PC I/O interface controlled (PCI、USB、R232、GPIB), PCBA board functional test methods, and systems level testing.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Share point Technology and SQL.
• Understanding of physical and electrical failure analysis flows, Knowledge of data analyze, familiarity of JMP is desirable.
