- Description
The HP Inkjet Commercial Division develops leading-edge large format printers for a broad range of markets and needs worldwide, being the first world wide supplier in this printing segment. This division has a product development team in Shanghai with the need of incorporating experienced mechanical designers.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals interested in developing a career in an international environment. These professionals will interface with partners from all over the world, working towards common and technically challenging objectives.
Responsibilities:
Research and development of mechanical systems for large format inkjet printers. Specific duties would include part/systems design, analysis and debug, prototype builds, scheduling and planning, cost tracking and documentation.
Participate in the process of establishing design goals and objectives for the project.
Understand customer needs and refine customer specifications.
Work in partnership with the Project Manager and Principal Architects during the project-planning phase. Help to define project objectives, product architecture, and subsystem design goals, while maintaining the overall mechanical integration of the product ownership.
Define the appropriate leverage and reuse of designs, potential market standard solutions and areas of innovation for the project.
Provide leadership during system integration. Establish partnerships and lead cross-discipline / cross-functional collaboration to achieve system specifications, architectures, and/or designs.
Identify and resolve cross-functional and cross-discipline architectural issues. Worst-case and characterize the designs.
Work closely with Manufacturing and R&D management to define prototype build strategy. Lead the execution of the builds. Lead issue resolution
Release part designs for tooling. Ensure manufacturability of the parts by conducting DFM/DFx reviews with the manufacturing and procurement. Provide 3D and 2D documentation.
Ensure serviceability of the designs working closely with the technical marketing teams.
Own customer specification testing and prove system performance. Develop and execute system test plans. Address defects and finalize designs. Verify that your system meets all performance and reliability goals.
Facilitation of work with external engineering partners.
Contribute in the creation of tools and processes that result in organizational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree or Master's (graduate) degree or Ph.D. (post graduate) degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Proven ability to lead and execute Mechanical Design. Experience in multiple product development cycles, preferably in a multidisciplinary environment (electronics and software)
Expert knowledge in Mechanical design fundamental, hands-on working style.
Expert knowledge in CAD tool, preferable with Solid Designer, Solid Works or ProE.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to conceptualize, implement and validate a system level design and solution.
Expert knowledge and/or experience in part manufacturing process (plastics, sheet metal, extrusions, etc…).
Have worked on detail design, sub-system or system integration for multiple product development cycles.
Strong verbal and written communication and collaborating skill.
Fluent in English and Mandarin.
Desired:
Desired experience/knowledge in Large Format printing systems
Desired experience on vendor management for design subcontracting
Although not a requirement, previous experience in one of more of the following technical areas will be valued:
Servo mechanisms design, testing and verification including integration of mechanics, electronics and control software.
High precision mechanisms.
Structure design and calculation, including FEA, modal analysis, test and check.
Printing systems design
