DCBU Software Engineer

Job Description
SW engineers participating in Cisco storage/data center switches development in device driver, Linux/kernel and Diagnosis. Preferred candidates should feel comfortable with fast-paced team work SW development and inter-group/company communication. Travel may be needed occasionally

Education:
Typically requires BSEE/CS combined with 3+ yrs related experience, or MSEE/CS combined with 1-2+ years of related experience

Skills required:
1. Solid C programming in register/system level, good C++, including STL programming in Linux or Unix environment.
2. Experience in multi-processor, multi-process, and multi-thread programming. Familiar with IPC and synchronization.
3. Familiar with make tools, shell language, CVS/Clearcase and GDB. Familiar with KGDB is a plus.
4. Familiar with embedded system, device driver and register level programming. Experienced with Linux kernel and Linux device driver model is very desirable.
5. Must be speaking fluent English & a team player.
6. Must be comfortable with large scale team based SW development and frequent inter-group/company communication.
7. Experienced with ASIC verification or BIOS development is a plus.
8. Hi-end networking switch/router SW development experience is a plus.

CEBU Senior Power System Engineer

Job Description
Perform complex role on project team involving the entire power system design process. Candidate is responsible for the design and the documentation of computer power and related electro-mechanical assemblies. Conceptualize, plan and execute the design and development of switch products. Conducts design verification tests and develop/conduct specialized tests. Create schedules for medium to large tasks and may be required to manage remote development activities. Resolve field and production problems. Conduct internal and external design reviews with design team and vendors.
Leads the engineering effort of the specification, design, development and test of on-board DC-DC converters. Co-ordinate the layout of high density DC-DC converters and analysis of operational performance in addition to power flow, short circuit, stability, and post-transient analyses. Responsible for factory and field support. Works with team to develop complex on board DC power solutions, components selection and qualification. Resolves issues at customer sites. • Proven experience in complex analog design with an emphasis on DC/DC power supplies and control/monitoring.
• Solid knowledge of DC/DC converters, Hot-swap control, power management and switching power supply topologies.
• Expert understanding and experience with board level discrete power conversion and component selections.
• Experience with stability analysis, harmonic analysis, and fault analysis and circuit protection.
• Good understanding of analog fundamentals in the design of power electronics.

Job Description
Work with senior engineering staff to support product development effort. Create documentation of designs and assist EDVT effort. Develop power supply/system designs and work with vendors to produce parts and participate in the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) effort. Develop and refine power system design skills. Gain knowledge of worldwide environmental compliance requirements.

Position 1: Hardware ASIC Engineer (8 openings)

Job Descriptions:

Participate in the design and verification of complex, and leading edge ASICs used in high performance networking equipments. In particular, you will be involved in developing hardware for Cisco award-winning switching platforms.

Responsibilities:

Implementation of complex ASICs and/or FPGAs. Take part in the architecture definition, implementation and verification phases. Detailed design specification and test plan development. Develop and implement block level RTL, perform synthesis and achieve timing closure. Standalone module, full chip and system level verification, formal verification and equivalence checking. Work with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, diagnostics, signal integrity group). Assist in complex subsystem level bring-up, integration, and unit test verification.

Skills Required:

Experience in high performance ASIC/FPGA design from start to finish.
Good understanding of ASIC/FPGA methodologies and tool flows.
Working knowledge using HDL languages and tools, scripting and programming languages (Perl, TCL, C and C++). Experience with directed-random verification using VCS, Vera, Specman, System Verilog, or other code coverage tools. Excellent English written and verbal communications, team and people skills. Self motivated, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide a leadership role. Knowledge of Data Networking fundamentals, switches and routers desirable.

Position 2: Senior Hardware Signal Integrity Engineer (5 openings)

Job Description:

Cisco’s ISBU System Packaging Group is seeking self-motivated individuals responsible for the design and analysis of very high speed digital interfaces and power distribution networks. In this Sr. Signal & Power Integrity Engineering position you will be pushing technology to the limits while designing 6Gbs and beyond for current and next generation state of the art network switching products.

Responsibilities:

• Using analytical and simulation tools to define design requirements at system level. Making use of both time and frequency domain tools for simulation of high speed serial links (chip to chip and across backplanes).
• Using 2D and 3D modeling tools you will play a key role to generate library of frequency dependent models for physical structures such as transmission lines, vias, and connectors.
• Performing Power Integrity analysis and generating power delivery network requirements
• Performing timing, clock distribution and voltage margin analysis and generate requirements for placement and routing based on simulations.
• Correlate simulation results with laboratory measurements using high speed Oscilloscopes, VNA, PNA, TDR, Bit Error rate testers, and Spectrum analyzer.


Skills required:

You should have solid understanding of SerDes design, PLL design, LVDS, SSTL, HSTL, CML, and other high performance I/O technologies. Proficiency in HSPICE, Matlab, 3d modeling tools such as Ansoft HFSS and / or CST Microwave studio is required. Familiarity with Sigrity or Optimal tools for power integrity analysis is highly desirable. Familiarity with board level simulation tools such as SiSoft, ICX, Specctraquest, or XTK is a plus. You should have excellent analytical, communication and documentation skills.
