The company is Europe-base and it's core businesses in Greater China include petrochemicals, polystyrene, engineering plastics, coatings, finishing products for the textile & leather industries, intermediates, vitamins, crop protection products and electronic chemicals etc. It is one of the leading foreign investors in the Chinese chemical industry.
The consolidated revenues for 2006 totaled EUR 3.6 billion in Greater China.
General:
Perform Development work in the Lab, especially with respect to chemicals for Leather finishing based on polymerization reactions to create Poly-acrylics and PUR-Dispersions. Ensure furthermore frequent successful product innovation to meet existing and new market requirements in Asia and to establish/maintain a product portfolio that is competitive in terms of performance, quality and costs while complying with relevant environmental and safety standards.
Main Tasks
Apply state of the art (BASF) methods and procedures for advanced chemical and formulation development, especially with respect to emulsion polymerization techniques.
Help with the transfer of production of related BASF products to Asian sites.
Conduct product development activities in the lab within the framework of projects defined.
Contribute to creating innovation ideas from a technology point of view.
Job requirements
At least Batchelor in Polymer Chemistry or related topics
Good knowledge in polymer and colloid chemistry as well as polymerization techniques, especially emulsion polymerization of poly acrylics and polyurethanes
Knowledge of formulation techniques, familiarity with physicochemical characterization methodology will be appreciated.
Well-developed analytical skills and work/project management methodology.
Open, seamless and straightforward communication also across cultural borders.
Ability to perform effective Lab work in a safe and efficient way.
Can be directly from University, working experience is – of course – preferred
Communication lines
Routine communication with Senior Product Development Manager and Product Development Manager, who will also act as tutors in case polymerization knowledge
