  About department:

  This is a software engineering role within the A/P DSD Operation based in Ch
engdu, China. The role will report into the local (Chengdu) DSP / QE Technical
Lead. It is a contributing role that involves daily technical activities asso
ciated with DSP / QE applications development. There will be
a focus on providing regional-specific support; initially this will be for gen
eral DSP / QE technology. The DSP team will advance into a level of TD-SCDMA e
xpertise capable of discussing system level benefits of Freescale Technology.
The QE team will architect, develop and build microcode and the associated API
/drivers for Freescale PowerQuicc Communication Processor.

  Job Responsibilities:

  For the DSP Team:
  - Development, testing, documentation and support of DSP applications as a c
ontributing member of the DSP team in Chengdu. There is special emphasis on re
gional focus (China, Korea, etc) to this support.
  - The Generation/Publishing of benchmark results and Application Notes that
illustrate the performance available from Freescale Digital Signal Processing
(DSP) solutions
  - Provide the first level of support for regional FAEs and AEs involved in D
SP design win efforts.
  For the QE Team:
  - Development, testing, documentation and support of microcode and the assoc
iated driver for Freescale PowerQuicc Communication Processor.
  - The Generation/Publishing of benchmark results and Application Notes that
illustrate the performance available from Freescale PowerQuicc Communication P
rocessor.
  - To provide technical support to internal/external customers in microcode,
upper level software and application development
  - Able to work with cross functional teams from different regions during the
development process.
  - To deliver technical training on PowerQuicc Communication Processor proces
sors to internal/external customers.
  - Occasional travel to work at customer site is required

  Specific Qualifications:

  - Degree in Computer Science, Electronic/Microprocessor Engineering, or simi
lar discipline.
  - Exposure to Microprocessor/DSP embedded software systems and/or embedded a
pplications development.
  - Awareness of the 3G wireless market and equipment is an advantage
  - Solid understanding of communication systems, experience in networking tec
hnology such as broadband access and CPE would be an advantage.
  - A strong embedded software and operating system background, demonstrable L
inux/RTOS knowledge is an advantage. Experience in Linux kernel-space programm
ing is very desirable.

  This role is one of technical contribution. Occasional availability to trave
l is desired although limited in frequency/duration.

  - Domain Knowledge of 3G wireless is desired, TD-SCDMA experience preferred

  - Domain knowledge of Communications protocols, Linux Kernel,
  - Customer capable presentation skills

  - Functional command of Spoken/Written English
