Genomics - Scientist
With a commitment on turning good ideas into innovative, effective medicines for many unmet health needs, AstraZeneca is establishing a global research center in Shanghai, China: the Innovation Center China (ICC). The initial research area for ICC will be cancer research, with focus on translational science by developing knowledge about Chinese patients, discovering biomarkers for personalized medical needs and better understanding drug mechanisms of action for targeted therapies.

Position Description:
To lead a small team of technicians and deliver genomic analysis needs for ICC projects. This position requires significant hands-on activities, especially technical trouble shooting, and deliver the data package with high quality control.
Accountabilities/responsibilities
Up to date on the science and regulatory requirement in genomics and its application for drug discovery and development
Recruitment, management, development and training of lab technicians.
Provide specialist scientific and technical skills in the provision and interpretation of data.
Establishment of contact with and management of external suppliers and local contract outsourcing labs.
Delivery of improvements to the facility, once it has been established, to increase efficiency and decrease cost
Requirements
Advanced degree in bioscience with hands-on experience in genomics: gene expression microarray and/or aCGH
Practical experience in all aspects of genomics, from sample handling to data analysis
Good technical, scientific and problem-solving skills
Good understanding of statistical principles and its application in genomics
Good communication skills – written and spoken
