This position is based in Beijing, China.

Google is hiring Unix Administrators to support our global UNIX services and infrastructure. Supporting the growing offices in China and the Asia region will be one of the key responsibilities. Working in a demanding and fast-paced environment will be one of the challenges.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the trait of pioneering innovation. A strong sense of customer service is also expected.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Corporate servers and workstations
• Manage critical backend services such as Mail, DNS, LDAP, Proxy, etc.
• Monitor System and Network performance and stability
• Develop tools to enhance operation efficiency and support
• Cooperate and contribute to Googles global Systems Administration team
• Assist and work closely with Desktop support
• Be a creative problem solver and solution architect
• Implement and document processes and solutions

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in managing one or more flavors of UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, BSD, Red Hat, Debian, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP and networking
• Solid knowledge of common infrastructure services such as Web (HTTP), Mail, NFS, DNS, Kerberos, LDAP
• Sound knowledge of network and system security in general
• Good Shell scripting and programming ability (Bourne/BASH, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.)
• Independent, self-motivated, and still a team player
