2007 SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Job Overview:
Summer Interns for Equities Information Technology Asia exclude Japan – to work on various software development projects, based in Lehman Brothers’ Hong Kong office (other Asia Pacific offices are feasible case by case).
The IT Internship Program in the Hong Kong office:
Lehman Brothers offers 8-10 weeks work experience to students pursuing a Computer Science degree from leading universities. Candidates who are likely to work in Hong Kong (and other Asia Pacific offices) after graduation are targeted for the internship. Summer interns will join our Equities Information Technology team and take an active role in developing the technology that drives our businesses. There are weekly meetings, social events, seminars and tours that provide exposure to senior management and the Wall Street business. Interns gain valuable experience while meeting new people and learning new skills. The internship program also usually leads to a full-time position and a long-term career with the firm.
The internship serves three purposes: firstly, it gives interns an opportunity to learn more about our Firm, our people and our culture, while gaining industry experience in the design and development of leading edge technology/systems with exposure to our Firm’s business, products and analytics. Secondly, it gives the Firm an opportunity to evaluate each intern’s future potential and decide whether to make him/her an offer for permanent employment after graduation. Finally, the three month internship program provides invaluable resources to the Firm’s IT projects.
Preferred Skills/Attributes:
· Fluent in English; Japanese, Mandarin or Cantonese fluency an advantage
· Pursuing a Master of Sciences degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics. Undergraduate degree would also consider
· Completion of at least one advanced course in Object Oriented Programming
· Strong technical skills in C++, Java programming on Unix. Familiarity with Tibco/RV is desired
· Strong SQL skills on one RDBMS
· Familiarity with Capital Markets products (e.g. bonds, swaps, options, derivatives), pricing analytics, and risk management concepts is desired
