Your Responsibilities
The Software (Development) Engineer has the responsibility to create, implement and test the design on module, component level, conform to the Philips Lighting Quality procedures and processes (documentation, code, verification). The job entails responsibility for specifying product parameters to external suppliers, and modifying / verifying these. Specific solutions are to be checked against the general software architecture with the responsible System Architect.
Any potential failures to meet schedules are reported to the Project Manager and suggestions are made for avoiding overruns. For day-to-day professional problems he/she consults the Project Manager and fellow development engineers.
• Responsible for the design of software to be made on component level.
• Substantial input in the design specifications.
• Understands and communicates consequences of his/her design on the component as a whole.
• Contributes to discussions concerning software design, but also takes initiative in working out design issues.
• Contribution to the completion of the design specification of a subsystem.
• Designs on base of the functional specification and given subsystem architecture.
• Project experience, able to advise projects on implementation and planning.
• Software technology owner or feature specialist.
• Defines detailed design specifications, creates code, and tests software.
• Able to review code and documents from others.
Your Profile
• University education, specifically in Digital Electronic engineering.
• Work experience in Pre-development and Product development surroundings, preferable familiar with the CE Architecture & Standard Design process.
• Work experience in multidisciplinary teams.
• Work experience with Research and Pre-development departments, steering the projects from a technical point of view.
• (Some) knowledge and understanding of other disciplines with which co operation takes place: optics, thermal management, LEDs.
• Knowledge of design methods and software engineering processes.
• Knowledge of a specific area of SW technology or product feature.
• Software product developer
• Disciplined team worker.
• Analytical thinker.
• Accurate and quality minded.
• Also pragmatic to quickly build demonstrators and prototypes.
• Open to engage in new markets, envision new products and has no problems with quick changes in product specs and continuation of running projects.
