GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complete Engine

ering Technical Publications projects and programs. Directs and provides profe

ssional leadership of a broad functional area, possibly through managers and s

enior managers, and has high-level authority over planning. Develops long-rang

e plans and creates specific strategies to achieve goals. Responsible for esta

blishing objectives for product and/or project groups and manages these groups

to ensure that goals are met within specified timeframe and products/projects

meet quality standards. Anticipates future needs and initiates the design and

development of new approaches to engineering processes. Authorizes the resour

ces necessary to achieve organizational goals. Establishes strategic plans tha

t may impact the entire organization or company. Participates in and is accoun

table for cross functional initiatives and collaboration, which may have signi

ficant impact on business results. Often interacts with EMC executives and/or
customers, conducting briefings or technical meetings.  Typical
ly manages multiple teams in multiple disciplines. May have budgetary responsi

bility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Serves as technical consultant and technical leader, sphere of influe

nce may include people outside of EMC.
 Develops and provides challenging yet appropriate assignments, evalua

tes work, communicates progress toward career development and goals.
 Anticipates future business needs, makes decisions and implements pol

icies that affect areas of the company outside their own functional area.
 Participates in corporate strategy development through advocacy for p

rograms and projects within their functional area.
 Uses independent judgment to develop strategic vision within function

al area, implements operational policies and directives, communicates progress

toward goals and objectives.
 Provides innovative solutions to unusually complex and sensitive prob

lems, requires ingenuity and creativity.
 Participates in and is accountable for cross functional initiatives a

nd collaboration, which may have significant impact on business results.

ology.  Ideal candidates will enjoy a fast paced, technically challenging envi

cols and NAS virtualization.
Requirements:
• BS in Computer Science or related field, graduate level is a plus
• 3 or more years experience in formal software development
• Excellent C/C++ language skills on Windows or UNIX
• Strong interest in IP Networking protocol and/or file systems
• Experience in NFS and CIFS an advantage
• Strong problem solving skills
• Good written communication skills
• Comfortable working in a highly distributed international team
