Job Description

Position: Software Engineer (Linux) in Shanghai
Title: Member of Technical Staff 3/4
Job Grade: M-3 to M-4

Essential Functions: Provide Linux support to NSG\'s Revenue Product Engineering group. The responsibilities include:
- Bringup of new Linux releases on (Redhat, SuSE) released NSG products.
- Verification of the OS with new driver/hardware/firmware and other component changes.
- Triage, debug internal/external escalations; provide and release bugfixes.

Marginal Functions: This person will need to be a team player who is able to work with multiple engineering and teams and able to work with minimal direction.

Required Knowledge:
C or C++ language. Detail oriented. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate in English and Mandarin. Experience with Linux device driver or kernel development.

Preferred Knowledge: This position requires strong knowledge of Linux internals and kernel development experience. The ideal candidate should have a good grasp of issues encountered in system software (device drivers and configuration, memory management, file systems, multithreading, boot up code, BIOS, networking). Familiarity with x86 architecture, Intel/AMD processors, ACPI, I/O protocols such as USB, PCI/PCI-e, SATA, SCSI, IPMI, HyperTransport.
Experience with source management tool such as Teamware and/or SCCS. Experience with generating RPMs and driver patches.

* THIS POSITION CAN VARY FROM A MTS4,SW TO A MTS3, SW DEPENDING ON THE EXPERIENCE OF THE CANDIDATE.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position is for a BIOS engineer to provide customization, debugging and sustaining support for Sun\'s x86/x64 server products. Main responsibilities includes triage of problems, debugging, and providing bug fixes.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Preparation of BIOS releases. Reviewing hardware designs. Supports proudct team leads in the US. Supports global field and customer engineers. HDT.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Software engineer skilled in:

* BIOS
* x86/x64 PC architecture
* broad understanding of low-level software, operating systems, computer hardware, usb.
* independent, thorough, responsible, and technically competent.
* has good communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
* works well with others.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding of x86 architecture, BIOS, booting, operating systems (Linux, Windows, Solaris), drivers, disks, networking, ACPI, PCI-X/E, USB, \"how x86s work\". Programming and scripting skills for contributing to our test environment. Detailed knowledge of the AMD Opteron and associated chipsets.

Position: Software Engineer (Windows) in Shanghai
Title: Member of Technical Staff 3/4
Job Grade: M-02 to M-04

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Looking for an engineer with Windows development experience to
- debug, triage, and resolve escalations and bugs
- analyze WHQL runs failures


MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Preparation of software distributions.

Reviewing documentation.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Windows development experience on either Windows 2003, XP or 2000.
Experience with writing device driver or system bringup, knowledge of DDK,
windbg, SDK.

Broad understanding of low-level software, operating systems, computer hardware.

Quality Assurance processes and practices.

Independent, thorough, responsible, and technically competent.

Has good communication, technical leadership, documentation, and organizational skills. Must be fluent in English and Mandarin.

Works well with others.
This position may vary between an MTS4 or MTS3, depending on the experience of the candidate.


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding of x86 architectures, kernel, BIOS, booting, operating systems (Linux, Windows, Solaris), drivers, disks, networking, PCI-X/E, \"how x86s work\".
Windows System admin knowledge, experience of other Microsoft technologies such
as SQL, Exchange, Virtual Server a plus. WHQL certification experience.

Detailed knowledge of the AMD Opteron and associated chipsets.

3-6 years


MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
MS or equivalent experience
