My blue journey in 2006
After several competitive paper tests and interviews, I became the luckiest and happiest girl in the world when I signed the contract with IBM for internship during the summer of 2006. All my friends celebrated it for me and I believe it should be a brilliant start and great opportunity for my future career development.
However, opportunities always come with challenges. The beginning of my blue journey was not only exciting but also tough. Piles of abbreviations and IBM language about industry knowledge, department functions, and internal processes poured into my head in such a short time and made me hurry-scurry. At that moment, my mentor, Ms. Ye, encouraged me not to be frustrated and not to worry about my lack of technology background. With her rich experience, she guided me through my problems and taught me how to adapt into IBM culture quicker and smoother. She told me: “try your best, your every effort will finally pay off.”
When my mentor and I both involved into a complicated team project with tight schedule, she became my best advisor and helper. Her market sensitiveness, persistent attention on every detail and always full preparation for the next steps showed me the meaning of the professionalism as an IBMer. Those days and nights, we worked hard together and stayed up late. After multi-negotiations, the contract was finally signed and our customer was satisfied by IBMers’ patience and professionalism. Our efforts proved IBM’s promise of dedication to client’s success and dded real value to our clients.
My mentor and I had regular biweekly review which was the most helpful time for me to summarize my past work and to schedule my future plans. She appraised my well-done jobs and also frankly pointed out all my mistakes and places needed to be improved. Meanwhile, we also would like to talk about other topics such as future career plans, casual life, and even love. Ms. Ye is not only my most helpful and experienced mentor, but also my closest friend and a nice sister who I can share lots of topics with.

If we have enough high-performance interns to offer, we will NOT conduct campus recruitment at year-end.
Please seize this opportunity, as there may be no positions available at year-end for IBM China (non-R&D functions).
Extreme Blue The Extreme Blue program is IBM's premier internship for top-notch students pursuing technology research, software development and MBA degrees.
