Philips Research East Asia (PREA) has been established in Shanghai since the year 2000. Our focus is on break through innovation, aimed to generate new business for Philips, and to support existing business. Working with industrial and academic partners, we speed up innovation and help create technologies that really matter and get adopted. We call this Open Innovation. We are an integral part of Philips’ international research program and have extensive collaborations with the Philips labs across the World. PREA currently has over 80 research scientists working in the fields of Healthcare, Lighting, Digital Television and Wireless Communications.

Job Description:

Job Title: Scientist for Usability Research & Interaction Design
Job Grade: 40 – 50
Location: Shanghai
Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
 Apply knowledge of usability, ergonomics, ethnography, psychology/ physiology, etc. to collect, analyze and define requirements for healthcare or lifestyle application systems or products;
 Work in a multidisciplinary team consisted of people with humanistic background and technical background to brainstorm new ideas.
 Develop the new ideas via user-centered design and demonstrate them with low/high fidelity prototypes;
 Conduct lab tests or field trials to validate the ideas/designs with users;
 Analyze the test results and conclude with new insights or proposals to help solving the problems or improving the users’ experience.
Requirements
 PhD or Master degree in the fields of Human Machine/Computer Interaction, Usability Engineering, Human Computing, Industrial Design, Psychology, Physiology or any other Human Factor Engineering related areas;
 Previous research affiliated with the application of technology to enhance users’ experience or improve people’s lives;
 We prefer those who did scientific work that had immediate relevance to the market or products;
 Willingness to cooperate with people from different background; team-working skills;
 Outstanding communication skills;
 Creative, initiative and open-minded;
 Fluent in Chinese and English (written and spoken) with equivalent level of CET-6 at least.
