Project Background: Next General Mobile System (B3G/4G)

Next generation mobile system (B3G/4G) represents new growth market opportunit
ies for both established players and industry start-ups with obvious advantage
in personalized service provision, and hence becomes promising for cellular s
ystem future. Therefore, the research and standardization on this system has t
urn into the working emphasis of ITU/3GPP/3GPP2, and the focus of whole indust
rial chain as well.

As one of the earliest research unit entering into this field, PREA has achiev
ed a series of breakthroughs in B3G/4G domain, e.g., MIMO techniques, TDD arch
itecture, HARQ scheme, etc. This project is expected to further improve the co
mpetition capability of B3G/4G, via cooperation with Chinese local units.

Responsibility for Post-doctor working in this project:

The post-doctor position listed here will work on upper layers (not excluding
physical layer) of cellular mobile telecom systems, more particularly on syste
m level standardization contributions. The working scope covers current (2G/3G
) and future evolutionary (B3G/4G) cellular systems. As a post-doctor within t
he project, your primary responsibilities will include:

 Definition of research into the evolutionary development of cellular
systems
 Development proposals to cellular mobile telecom standardization bodi
es, e.g., 3GPP
 Carrying on a working package of the project research work

Related Requirements:
PhD in Information, Communication, Computer or Electronic Engineering, with st
rong academic/research background and demonstrating ability to generate fresh
ideas and combining some or all of the following qualities:

Proficiency with current 2G/3G cellular systems and emerging technologies such
as, CDMA, MIMO, OFDM, etc.
 Expertise in link and system level simulations for wireless communica
tions, using tools such as OPNET, NS2, MATLAB, SPW, C (C++) and etc.
 Excellent academic or research background
 Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
 Excellent at both written and verbal English
