China Business Update (CBU) is an information and consulting firm specialized in the Chinese auto industry. In addition to three electronic newsletters distributed worldwide, CBU publishes a monthly English magazine, annual reports, directories and collections of automotive policies, laws and regulations on the world’s largest emerging auto market.
We are looking for the following positions:
Managing and Copy Editor
Location: Beijing
Responsibilities：
1. Responsible to cover China’s auto market information and analysis and write news reports, feature stories and analysis for a leading trade publication.
2. Managing Editing, copy editing and polishing newsbits, analysis and feature stories for an English trade publication.
Requirements:
1. Native or near-native English speaker, with reading and writing proficiency in Chinese.
2．Good oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
3. Knowledge of China’s auto industry a plus.
4. Willingness to work under pressure and in flexible hours in order to meet deadlines.
5. Responsible, dedicated and career oriented, with team spirit.
6. Computer proficiency (MS Office, PageMaker, Photoshop).
7. Aggressiveness in independently tackling job-related problems and challenges a plus.
8. At least three-year experience in industry newsletter or magazine writing and editing.
9. Journalism degree or background to be given high priority for consideration.
Subscription and Advertisement Sales Assistant
Location: Beijing
Responsibilities:
Subscription and advertisement sales for English weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual publications on China’s automobile market distributed worldwide.
Requirements:
1. English major. The right candidate should be able to handle bi-lingual communications (written and oral).
2. Inter-personal skill a must and the candidate should be self-motivated and aggressive.
3. A genuine interest in and love for sales and marketing.
4. Teamwork spirit and willingness to work under pressure and deadlines.
5. Work experience a plus but not necessary.
6. Knowledge of Chinas auto industry and a plus.
Reporter / Staff Editor (full time)
Location: Beijing
Responsibilities
1. Responsible to cover China’s auto market information and analysis and write news reports, feature stories and analysis for a leading trade publication.
2. Data entry and database building, international conference coordination, customer service, sales and marketing.
Requirements:
1. Good oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English. Ability to write and edit news reports and analysis in English.
2. Knowledge of China’s auto industry a plus.
3. Knowledge of photography and the use of digital camera.
4. Willingness to work under pressure and in flexible hours in order to meet deadlines.
5. Responsible, dedicated and career oriented, with team spirit.
6. Computer proficiency (MS Office, PageMaker, Photoshop). Aggressiveness in independently tackling job-related problems and challenges a plus.
7. Entry or mid-level editor with or without experience in newsletter or magazine writing and editing.
8. Journalism degree or background to be given high priority for consideration.
IT–Web/Database Assistant
Location: Beijing
Responsibilities:
1. Help build company database and relevant applications.
2. Help construct and maintain company websites.
3. Data entry for local and web applications.
4. Computer hardware and software support.
5. Company daily equipment maintenance.
Requirements:
1. Knowledge of computer applications, web design and database.
2. Familiar with SQL Server, Access, Excel, Dreamwaver, Flash, Photoshop, ASP, .net for web solutions based on database.
3. Proficiency in English (CET-6) required.
4. Good oral and written English communication skills.
5. Inter-personal skill a must and should be patient and self-motivated.
6. A genuine love for IT, Internet and Web-based applications and work.
Graphic/Desk Top Designer/Layout Person
Location: Beijing
Requirements:
1. Graphic designer/layout person with experience in magazine/newspaper publishing.
2. Professionally experience in using InDesign for desktop publishing, QuarkXpress, PageMaker, PhotoShop, Illustrator.
3. Familiar with the printing industry in town and experience in working with printers
4. Minimum knowledge of English: Class IV
5. Knowledge of Chinas auto industry and a plus, but not necessary.
6. Inter-personal skill a must and should be patient and self-motivated.
7. Teamwork spirit and willingness to work under pressure and deadlines.
8. The right candidate with experience in English-language magazines/newspapers, especially automotive related, will be given priority consideration.
