Tata group has initiated an International Internship Program in India to give the Tata experience to young MBA students from across the globe.
The genesis of the International Internship Program, 2 years ago, began with the Tata’s and 3 of Singapore’s leading universities – National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technical University and Singapore Management University. Starting with a modest 4-5 interns in Tata Chemicals in 2005, in May 2006, 24 summer interns from Singapore came to India to intern with the Tata Group for a period of 2 months. 10 Tata Companies participated in this program last year and the feedback received about their experiences has been extremely encouraging. The interns were located across the India, worked on live projects and had the opportunity to travel a decent amount while in India.
After last year’s experiences, we are keen on developing the range and scope of regions. We have included the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, and some programs in China in 2007. Tata Group is working with Tsinghua university for the first time for the summer International Internship Program, in which 4~5 selected MBA students will work at Tata companies in India for 1~2 months. The students will be paid salary, air tickets to India and living expends.
