Description:The Broadband Wireless China Research Centre can/will play many roles. Below is a brief list of many of the major ones envisioned.Strategy
1.Create/gather annual/semi
-annual overviews of the Chinese telecom industry highlighting differences with the U.S.telecom industry.Contributes to environmental scans
2.Contribute to the strategy of Motorola and Motorola Labs through inputs reflecting the region/country.
3.Act as focal point for the China FUTURE program and other forums of importance to Motorola. Disseminate the results of FUTURE programs to all appropriate Motorola entities.
4.Create liaisons between Broadband Wireless China Research Centre and Chinese government entities,in wireless technology areas.ResearchEstablish major owned unique research capabilities and programs within WSR
-China.Create IPR for Motorola and Motorola Labs aligned with Motorolas or Motorola Labs strategy.Create solid relationships with key Chinese Universities with particular emphasis on hiring of fresh
-out staff,identifying key research professors and political/technical contacts for future consulting relationships,monitoring key research programs at Chinese Universities.ImpactThe work will consist on contributing to the lab objectives in one or several of the following areas :Design and implementation of PHY,DLC (MAC/ARQ/RLC) and Convergence layers algorithms.Design distributed communication mechanisms and advanced self organizing concepts for next generation of Broadband Wireless Access and Wireless Local Area NetworksCross layer concepts to optimize the performances of the systemSystem simulationContribution to standard bodies to lead innovative ideas and intellectual property developed into the standardParticipation to technology transfers to Motorola product sectors around the globe in order to speed up development process of cutting edge of technology productsSpecific Knowledge/Skills Accountabilities,duties and ResponsibilitiesComfortable in an international environment.Intercultural management skills.English fluency.Has a strong motivation for having product and customer impact with technologyExpertise in the Wireless space.Finds innovative solutions for using technology in meeting customer needs and improve cost/performance of future broadband wireless systemsEffectively works with others to ensure program goals are met.Become an important contributor to this major technical program.Demonstrates communication skills to advocate concepts and ideas.Uses reports and presentations to influence individual or group decision
