Dulwich College benefits from a rich history. One of Britain’s most prestigious independent schools, Dulwich was founded in 1619 as “Alleyn’s College of God’s Gift” by the great Shakespearean actor Edward Alleyn with letters patent from King James I. The College has a distinguished tradition of inspired teaching and genuine scholarship. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds with diverse interests that enrich the life of the College. Almost one sixth of all students at Dulwich College London are accepted at Oxford, Cambridge or top tier North American Universities. ‘Old Alleynians’ have a long history of distinguished careers. In 2003 Dulwich College London founded its first international school in China forging strong and valuable links to Asia. Dulwich now has international schools in Shanghai, Beijing and Suzhou. 1) 双语助教(音乐)

Job Title: Bilingual Teaching Assistant Music

Location: DCSuzhou

Reports To: Classroom Teacher (Forigner)          

Position Objectives:

  • To provide general support to the teacher in the management of individual and groups of students and the classroom.
  • Under the direct instruction of teaching staff to work with students in the classroom to provide physical/general care and assist with their learning.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Under direct instruction of teaching staff:

  • Provide for the students welfare/personal care both individually and in groups, and ensure their safety.
  • Act as a role model, show awareness of individual needs and respond to them,
  • Encourage student interaction and engagement with teacher led activities.
  • Prepare and routinely maintain classroom materials/resources/displays, assist students in their use, clear afterwards and display students’ work.
  • Support and supervise students in lessons in relation to learning strategies e.g., Literacy, Numeracy and Key Stage 3 tasks, and using basic ICT to promote learning.
  • Be aware of student problems and achievements and report to teacher as appropriate.
  • Support the teacher in managing behavior, report difficulties as appropriate.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money etc.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Contribute to the overall aims of the school, appreciate and support the roles of other members of the school work team and attend relevant meetings as required.
  • Be aware of and take part in the schools performance management framework and participate in training and development activities as required.
  • Assist with the supervision of students out of lesson times and accompany school trips and other out of school activities with the teacher as required.
  • Undertake any other similar duties as required.
  • Responsible for the management of classroom resources, the replenishment of materials, setting up of the classroom and ensuring the safety of the teaching environment.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree required, major in Music.
  • Either string or wind/brass/percussion experience would be a plus.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English, a working knowledge of music (language/terminology, i.e. half size violin/quarter size cello/left handed guitar/midi keyboard and so on)
  • Computer literate
  • Good attitude to work, sense of initiative and strong responsibility, trustful.
  • Ability to express her/his views on related work openly.
  • Ability to build relationships with other team member.
