ESSENTIAL FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares and places orders for the procurement of materials and/or supplies. Purchases related items from oversea to support scheduled production of company products.Direct the activities of buyers from oversea to accomplish company objectives.Interview vendor sales representatives concerning new product introductions, service, price structures, quality standards, deliveries and other competitive conditions. Relay information on new product introductions to appropriate department heads for considerationSolicit competitive quotations from various sources when new items are involved and select supplier submitting the most favourable bid considering all phases of conditions and termsNegotiate purchase transactions and set up pricing agreement with suppliers at terms favourable to the company, considering price, quality standards and deliveryInitiate purchase orders with vendors by telephone, fax or correspondence, conforming to plant requirements, maintenance projects and production schedulingTroubleshoot problems that arise on materials with suppliers and various other departments involvedManage Approved Vendor List (AVL)Coordinate purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levelsQUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor degree or above.Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level and across organizational lines;Confidentiality, accuracy and integrity in all areas is essential.Self
