Position: Full-time Translator/PA
Half the Sky was created by adoptive parents of orphaned Chinese children in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for the children in China who still wait to be adopted, and for those who will spend their childhoods in orphanages. The translator will be responsible for translating quarterly progress reports from the program sites, and involved in some administrative work such as scanning, filing, phone call and e-mail correspondence.
As the successful applicant gets more familiar with the work, he or she will have the opportunity to get more involved in the whole children’s program coordination and take part in other tasks, like database maintenance and program coordination.
Qualifications and Experience:
•Comfortable with longtime translating---PRIORITY
•Bachelors Degree (English Major preferred)
•Bilingual Mandarin Chinese/English strongly required, (both written and spoken)
Must be able to do oral and written translations from Chinese-English and vice-versa
•Administrative experience
•Good computer skills including word, spreadsheets, data base, scanning, PDF
•Dependable, very organized, problem solver and good team player
