Primary Objectives
-Establishing Process Safety policy in the process control field specifically for PLC/SIS.
-Related to technical standards program (M&TT) and related standardized supply contracts: ensure unambiguous specification of needs/functionality of hardware and service specifically for PLC/SIS
-Consultancy, in e.g. Large Capital; Projects, Life Time Extension studies, PLC-system architecture,
-Knowledge and competence management, e.g. practices;
-All policy related activities will be done in close co-operation with the Manufacturing Council

Job Responsibilities
-Monitoring external developments; maturity and applicability of tools and instruments to be overviewed, particularly in consultation with international organizations such as WIB, Namur, SIPU and,TüV
-Safety aspects of systems: safety instrumented systems (SIS) are in many cases a vital part of the SIL protection layers. In consultation with the Process Safety group practices to be developed/maintained. E.g. Design and as built verification assessments.
-Security of systems is another aspect that is gaining importance by the growing openness of systems. specifically for DCS/MES.
-Systems HAZOPS, PLC-system release upgrade consequences and life time extension consultancy are also part of the attention area.
-Provide support to D&ITS (Development & Implementation of Technical Standards) contract management. Contract management with key suppliers is an important role (see technical standards), which will be commercially supported by Purchasing Services
-Installation assessments. In a structured approach, a flying squad is starting up assessment projects all over the company.

Qualifications & Attributes
-Excellent conceptual overview over the whole field of safety instrumented systems, PLC’s and other related equipment, also in combination with other disciplines (Process Safety, DCS, Gouvernmental rules, Process Technology, Instruments…)
-Good knowledge of safety aspects.
-Proven experience in installation assessments, -, system HAZOPS, design assessments, CACTUS/SIL practices.
-Recognized expert, also in international context
-Able to translate business aspects to relevant instrumented safety projects and to sell the technology, create awareness
-Able to manage a (roll out) program when relevant for process control
-Able to translate Process Control “Chinese” into common language
