Main Purpose of the Role and Key Responsibilities: We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer to join our R&D team in Hangzhou, China. You are responsible for developing and maintaining a laboratory environment for Nokia Siemens Networks products. Your main task will be to set up a
testing laboratory and maintain a verification environment for testing of different products and platforms R&D programs. This involves hardware and software installations, testing support and looking after the IP networks, including routers and switches.
As a Laboratory Engineer you have an excellent position to gain system level competence of the Nokia Siemens Networks products. The work is organized in project teams, which have a close co-operation. This includes teams located on other Nokia Siemens Network development centers, and this adds the international nature to the position. Fluent international communication is needed; therefore good language skills are very important.
Requirements: Your academic background is an MSc or BSc degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or a similar subject. You have experience of IP networking, including network design and planning as well as of the configuration of routers and switches. You are not afraid to work with you hands. You enjoy working as part of a multinational team, and you are flexible, enthusiastic, and creative. You should have good communication skills with good written and spoken English and Mandarin.
Other requirements:
* Knowledge of IP protocols and IP networking
* Good knowledge of Linux or other UNIX-like operating systems
* Familiar with testing tools and test automation systems
* The ability to cooperate with people in small teams
* Problem solving skills
* Ability to work within strict deadlines and quality guidelines
* Understanding of commonly used tools and languages (Perl, shell scripting, SQL, etc) is an advantage
* Soldering or electricity skills are a plus
