Schlumberger Oilfield Services (OFS) consists of two divisions; Oilfield Areas and Oilfield Technologies (RDM - Research, Development and Manufacturing). China Manufacturing & Global Sourcing is part of Oilfield Technologies and was established in 2005 with its head-quarters in Shanghai. Today, we operate a global sourcing center and three manufacturing centers including (2 in Shanghai and 1 in Tianjin) employing more than 400 people of over 13 nationalities. What kinds of opportunities are available? Technical and Field Engineer Description about position: Schlumberger’s Technical & Field (T&F) Program is a special program which accepts only 5% of newly hired Schlumberger engineers or scientists each year. The purpose is to provide selected candidates with MSc or PhD degrees pursuing careers in Research, Development or Manufacturing (RDM) the unique opportunity to gain field operations experience prior to joining one of our RDM centers worldwide and obtain practical knowledge in both environments within just a few short years after graduation. Exposure to true field operations will greatly enhance the successful T&F Engineers’ ability to create, design, build and deploy the best technology in the world upon returning to the RDM center, bringing with them the unique perspective of a scientist or engineer with both Field and RDM domain expertise. The program begins with a field assignment lasting between 15 to 18 months in one of our field locations worldwide, during which time the T&F Engineer will be assessed and trained under the same technical program and held to the same performance standards as our new Field Engineers. Primary activities in the field include performing the installation, troubleshooting, operation and sales of oilfield technology and services to and for our clients globally. Upon successful completion of the field assignment, the T&F Engineer will return to the RDM center and apply the knowledge gained in the Field towards the research, engineering, manufacturing and deployment of the newest and most advanced technology and techniques in the industry to Schlumberger Field Operations around the world. Locations: International/China assignments in Schlumberger oilfield sites worldwide, and return for RDM assignment in China. Manufacturing Engineer Job description: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining methods of operations and sequence, process and production equipment for assembly of special components. Key roles include analyze manufacturing costs associated with engineering changes, interface with Engineering in the coordination of new products release, work with Suppliers on quality and technical issues, maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations, troubleshoots, researches, analyzes and resolve production problems, and participate on process improvement programs, like Lean Six Sigma. Location: Shanghai Sustaining Engineer Job description: Provide technical support to manufacturing operations at the manufacturing centers. Key roles include sustaining engineering to oilfield product lines, decide on disposition non-conformances of production parts, create, modify, create and approve Engineering drawings, serve as interface with other Engineering and Manufacturing centers and perform costing estimates on oilfield products to determine pricing. Location: Shanghai Sourcing Engineer Job description: Interface with respective technology center, serve as technical and project communication between their technology centers and suppliers. Manage sourcing utilizing best sourcing practices with the goal of sustaining continuous cost reduction as well as quality, service and delivery improvements with long and short term strategic focus. Location: Shanghai General requirements for above positions: MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering. Fresh out student with less than 3 years working experience in similar research, engineering, manufacturing can also be considered. Excellent English communication skill, self-starter, assertive, decisive and visible leadership. Dynamic, willing to work in challenging, diverse, technology-based environment.
