HP Job Description (ETW):

Linux Software Engineers play lead roles in a multi-discipline team working on new products and solutions. Youll be a member of international team that designs, implements, tests, and validates Linux software for systems, networks, applications, as well as middleware. In this position, you will be highly involved in Quality Assurance for HP Linux Manageability software.
Additionally, as a part of the multi-discipline team, you may be assigned to help team members who have various R&D responsibilities on a need basis. Your flexibility is required. HP emphasizes on innovation as key in everything we do. Learning and innovation are part of your job. We are looking for staffs who are self-motivated, self-guided, high-quality and enthusiastic about learning new techs especially on Unix/Linux areas.
Qualification
Education:
Bachelor or Master in computer science, information technology, engineering, math, physics, etc.

Experience required (MUST):
. At least 1 year Linux/Unix system experience (coding, testing or system admin)
. At least 1 year software QA experience (including academic projects)

Knowledge required (MUST):
. Good software engineering (especially in testing) knowledge
. Good operating system knowledge (kernel, driver…)
. Good Linux/Unix system administration knowledge
. Good Knowledge of hardware system including server, storage system and I/O subsystem
. Basic shell scripts knowledge: python, perl, bsh, ksh or expect (script programming experience is a solid plus)
. Basic C programming knowledge under Linux/Unix environment
. Basic Web related knowledge: php, jsp, javascript, and etc.
. Fluent English. Need to be involved in oversea conference call with foreign colleagues

Better to have:
. Knowledge and experience on SNMP or WBEM (solid plus)
. Knowledge of automated test frameworks or tools (good plus)
. Professional certification of Linux/Unix like system administration (good plus)
. Experience of hardware related projects (good plus)
