tion: Beijing, China ATC Studios is a centralized design team that supports a wi
de range of projects within Microsoftˇs Advanced Technology Center (ATC), from
cutting-edge incubation work to the latest versions of established Microsoft pro
ducts to genre-defying products for the China market. ATC Studios is seeking an
innovative and talented researcher to help develop tools that empower designers
to rapidly try out interaction and visual ideas in a diverse portfolio of projec
ts, including Microsoft Surface, mobile phone and other personal communication d
evices, emerging markets, education projects, games, incubation and online servi
ces. Are you interested in building tools that allow users to fully utilize rich
computing resources such as computer graphics? Are you interested in end-user,
visual, and naturalistic programming languages? Can you research a variety of to
pics independently? Do you have the programming skills to implement your ideas i
nto a system that will be used in a production environment? Do you believe progr

so, we have a rare opportunity for you. The ATC Studios in Microsoft China is lo
oking to add a fantastic prototype-tool researcher to our interaction developmen
t team. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of artists, designers and pr
ogrammers to build tools that enable the rapid prototyping of design ideas. Depe
nding on the researcherˇs interests, this role can involve inter-disciplinary r
esearch in the areas of programming languages, artificial intelligence, and comp
uter graphics. The researcher will be involved in both developing prototyping to
ols and publishing novel results in well-established research conferences and jo
urnals. Responsibilities:
刪 Research, design, and develop designer prototyping tools.
刪 Publish research results in well-established conferences and journals.
Requirements:
刪 Bachelors in computer science (or equivalent experience). Enrolled in a maste
rs or PhD program.
刪 At least two years programming experience in a general purpose language such
as Java, C++, or C#.
刪 Excellent team work and communication skills.
刪 Fluent in English.
刪 Interest and significant experience in one or more of the following research
areas: end-user, visual, naturalistic, and declarative programming languages; co
nstraint programming and satisfaction; natural language processing; pattern reco
gnition; and applied computer graphics.
Bonuses:
刪 Familiarity with the design process and popular design tools such as Visio an
d Photoshop.
刪 Familiarity with a wide variety of programming paradigms and alternative prog
ramming languages.
刪 Prior experience in game development, animation, or compiler construction.
