During SW initialization after power-up, the UIS-2008 system
shall run a minimal set of diagnostics on the system hardware.
This includes a minimal test of the front panel controller,
the embedded scanner hardware, and the communication links
between each of these and the host PC. If any hardware error
is detected in this initialization that would prevent the
system from running properly, a notification message shall be
displayed to the user to power cycle and try again and contact
service if the problem persists.
In addition, to aid the service personnel in isolating where
a hardware problem may be located, the UIS-2008 shall monitor
the hardware status during normal program operation. This
includes monitoring the embedded system error registers,
health of the DSPx image processors, and data validity of the
DSPx input buffers. Any changes in status detected by this
monitor shall be uploaded to the host and logged in a file for
later review by a service engineer.
