Job Title: Database Administrator & Developer – Shared Service Development Centre

General Description:

 

 

 

 

Responsible for creating and maintaining databases, provides database related supports to development team.  The job capacity will involve technical and administrative support of the Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In particular, this job performs the following database development and support functions:

 

 

 

 

·         Administer and maintain on-going production and test database environments.

 

 

 

 

·         Install, maintain and upgrade Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS software.

 

 

 

 

·         Prepare database load scripts, test and implement specifications.

 

 

 

 

·         Provide technical support for Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL Server

 

 

 

 

·         Monitor, tune and troubleshoot production and test databases.

 

 

 

 

·         Troubleshoot user and developer database issues.

 

 

 

 

·         Contact technical support for database solutions and patches.

 

 

 

 

This position prefers an academic or professional certification in computer science or equivalent work experience, together with a minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in Oracle/SQL database administration on NT/XP/W2K platforms.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·         Proficiency in technical skills to support business units in database technology.

 

 

 

 

·         Proficiency in interpersonal skills to provide work harmony in a team environment.

 

 

 

 

·         Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of database development methodology for Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL Server technologies.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of writing database scripts, PL/SQL, T-SQL

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of database security and audit requirements.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of data management and database architecture principles and practices.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of SQL*Plus, PL/SQL Developer, Oracle 10G Grid, Microsoft Enterprise Manager and other RDBMS tools.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL server installation, patching, support and troubleshooting.

 

 

 

 

·         Strong and practical knowledge of database tuning, backup and recovery.

 

 

 

 

·         Knowledge of data modeling, database design and development.

 

 

 

 

·         Knowledge of current technology to positively influence the development environment.
