Introduction
The convergence of Internet and telecom creates new business opportunities, not the least in emerging markets. This project is about advertisements, social communities, web2.0, commerce and mobile technologies. The project was initiated within Ericsson Research in the beginning of 2007 and resulted in a prototype of the service that was run as a “beta” test with users in China. During this year, we will take the project to the next level.

Internship Objectives
The objective of the internship is to come up with a marketing strategy for how to stepwise attract and expand the user base including communication plans and mechanisms for interaction with the users, primarily to receive feedback. The internship period is 2-3 months full-time during the summer of 2008. We look for candidates well familiar with China. The place of the internship position is Beijing, where Ericsson China headquarters are located.

Competence:
We are looking for students with Master of Science studies in media, computer (or telecommunications) science, industrial engineering, or equivalent, as well as business administration, marketing or entrepreneurship. Successful candidates have strong competence in business and market communications. Hands-on business development experiences from prior innovation projects and/or end-to-end Internet service projects are clearly an advantage. A good understanding of end-user expectations and requirements (at the individual and community level), and knowledge of requirements on networks, infrastructure and terminal devices is also very good. The ability to communicate well in both written and spoken English and Chinese is essential.

Description of unit:
The Beijing branch of the service layer technologies area within Ericsson Research is a new unit that develops service concepts and run beta tests of those services with users in China. We work in a relatively small, dynamic team with big entrepreneurial spirit and strong business focus. This project will be based in Beijing, and it provides the opportunity to collaborate with other teams in e.g. Sweden that are all part of Ericssons end-to-end applications research program.
