Job Summary

Intern position, 6 + months, at least 4 days a week, full time preferred.

The Sun OpenSolaris Desktop QE team are responsible for the quality of Desktop
System on Solaris. We are looking for enthusiastic and talented student
with strong sense of responsibilities and good problem solving skills.

Job Description

This position will will executes various programs to assurance the
quality of the Sun Desktop products. He/She will:
- execution test suites execution for Sun Desktop products.
- write complete and accurate bug report
- write formal test reports
- test cases developing
- set up testing environment
- verify and track bugs
- communicate with the development team

Technical skills required:
- familiar with Unix/Linux system, Solaris preferred.
- skills on script language Perl, Unix Shell, Python
- proficient in both conversational and written English
- able to work on multiple projects in parallel

Additional requirements:
- has strong interest in Sun products such as OpenSolaris, Java and OpenSolaris Desktop System
- knowledge and experience with open source community and projects
- good communication skills and ability to work independently
- familiar with software development and test processes
- MS student in Computer Engineering/Science preferred

Task1:
- maintain a Solaris tinderbox for Mozilla on both Sparc and x86, this will also involve providing some test cases
- design web pages for Firefox/Thunderbird on the OpenSolaris website
- assist in verifying some java/javascript bugs
- assist in fixing bugs within the Mozilla community
- work with the Mozilla community, this involves working with the local China community and the worldwide community

The following skills are required:
- strong C/C++ skills
- experience with web page design
- strong problem solving skills
- strong communication skills
- proficient in both conversational and written English
- familiar with UNIX OS, having Solaris experience being a distinct advantage
- ability to work with little supervision


The following skills would be advantageous:
- experience working within an open source community particularly with GNOME or Mozilla
- experience with perl and javascript programing
- MS student in Computer Engineering/Science preferred
- familiarity with the software life cycle

Task2:
- assist in fixing bugs within the Mozilla community
- assist in testing/verifying accessibility bugs
work together with the Mozilla community

The following skills are required:
- strong C/C++ skills
- strong problem solving skills
- strong communication skills
- proficient in both conversational and written English
- familiar with UNIX OS, having Solaris experience being a distinct advantage
- ability to work with little supervision
- understanding of common accessibility issues in graphical user interfaces and
on the Internet
- experience with software testing
- ability to write high quality bug reports along with analyzing bug reports,
confirming bugs, and verify bug fixes


The following skills would be advantageous:
- experience working within an open source community particularly with GNOME or
Mozilla
- experience with perl and javascript programing
- MS student in Computer Engineering/Science preferred
- familiarity with the software life cycle
