B.C. - CANADA PAVILION IN BEIJING

This May, the British Columbia Canada Pavilion brings a dazzling glimpse of B.C. and Canada to the thousands of visitors attending the 2008 Summer Games.
BACKGROUND
The BC - Canada Pavilion (BCCP) is being established in an advantageous and central area of Beijing in order to showcase and promote British Columbia and Canada during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, and in anticipation of the 2010 Olympic Games in B.C. The Pavilion will be open from May 2nd to September 18th, 2008 and is located near Tiananmen Square on the second ring road.

The first floor of the BCCP will house a permanent exhibit displaying the geography, economies, and tourism potential of British Columbia; it will be open to the general public at a nominal fee for admission.

The second floor (business floor) will be open for invitation-only events and has been booked by education, business and other sectors to promote trade and partnership opportunities in China through seminars, round tables and catered events. This is an hourly paid position; pay rate is subject to experience.

Job Description:
- Be a part of an internationally recognized team of high energy and talented people!
- Culinary Capers Catering, the exclusive caterer to the BC Canada Pavilion, is looking for Event Servers who speak English and Mandarin.

- This will be an opportunity to contribute to our special events in an exciting environment with an award-winning caterer with an international reputation.

Responsibility:
- Working with other team members to ensure that our clients and their guests receive the highest level of service with our signature cuisine.
- Report to Event Supervisor on-site for instructions, event timeline and event details.
- Confident and demonstrated ability to set up a full serve bar or self serve bar.
- Manage a clean and efficient bar during set up, service and tear down.
- Assist with passed beverage service, food service and bussing throughout the event.
- Comfortable with lifting up to 35 lbs.


You:
- Have a strong work ethic.
- Team player with a can-do attitude.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced event environment.
- Professional attitude and attire at all times.
- Maintain high quality service standards.
- Detail oriented with problem solving abilities and decision making capabilities.
- Banquet and fine dining experience an asset.
- Available to work days and evenings.

We offer:
- The opportunity to work flexible hours and shifts.
- Uniform shirt will be supplied. You will need to supply black dress pants and shoes.

Responsibility:


- Working with the other team members to ensure that our clients and their guests receive our signature cuisine.

- Ability to work with hors d’oeuvres, salads, entrees and appetizers
- Confident knife skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Confidence in following all provided recipes, willingness to ask questions
- Participate in maintaining clean and organized fridges, freezers and dry storage areas
- Work cohesively with team members to stream line productivity
- Show a respectful attitude towards other team members, department heads, suppliers and the company
- Work within all set health and safety guidelines and standards


Secondary
- Ability to be self motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
- A strong desire for excellence, enthusiasm and energy
- Demonstrated pride, passion and commitment to the food industry


Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Minimum of one year experience as a cook or; related diploma or papers from a recognized culinary institute.
