GLOBE AWARE is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that mobilizes volunteers all over the world. Focused on promoting the principles of cultural awareness and sustainability, Globe Aware develops short-term volunteer programs in international environments that encourage people to immerse themselves in a unique way of giving back. The work is varied and can encompass everything from helping a rural school in Brazil, playing word games with children in Peru, planting trees in India, to teaching basic English in China. This process naturally instills in them values to become lifelong advocates for a better world.

In light of the growing interests in Chinese culture, Globe Aware is now actively expanding its programs to Beijing. We are expecting to bring volunteers, primarily from the US, to participate in projects in Beijing starting in 2008. As an integral step, we would like to recruit student volunteers who share our vision of"Have fun, Help People" to set up a club at Renmin University of China. The ultimate goals of this club would be to help us organize and facilitate day-to-day operations of our upcoming programs in Beijing area. Student volunteers for this club should fulfill the following qualifications:
Students of Renmin University of China graduating in 2009 and beyond
Proficient in Conversational English
Proactive and responsible, preferably with previous volunteer and global transfer experience
Available for at least 1 year begining April 2008 (nice to have, not necessary)
Upon recruited by Globe Aware, the student volunteers are expected to take active lead in establishing the aforementioned club at Renmin University of China and providing timely support for our programs starting by May 2008. In particular, student volunteers should:

Design programs, establish calender and arrange relevant logistical as well as programmatic preparations with local communities
Maintain close communication with host organizations and Globe Aware on project status
Facilitate day-to-day needs of volunteers coming from all over the world to Beijing for our programs
