Position Title: Application Engineer - Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

BU: Transmission System

Location: Zizhu Industrial Park, Shanghai

 

POSITION SUMMARY:      

This job description is for a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) Systems Application Engineer within the China Technical Center located in Shanghai China.  Responsible for liaison/interface between Chinese customers and BorgWarner Transmission Systems global transmission systems design/development department.  Responsible for liaison/interface between China Technical Center and other BorgWarner Transmission Systems entities in China.  Works with Chinese customers to specify requirements for automated transmission systems for vehicle applications. Integration of mechanical components and hydraulic/electronic control systems into transmissions. Support with vehicle calibration of transmission control systems for customer requirements. Assists with laboratory test equipment specification and procurement.  Assists with vehicle test.  Demonstrates effective communication skills, works well in a team and shows initiative.

 

Essential Functions:

 

- Automobile transmission knowledge – able to design mechanical components of transmission.

- Good understanding of automated transmission function required.

- Knowledge of vehicle engineering;

- Knowledge of powertrain engineering;

- Able to understand customer system requirements and formulate them into design requirements.

- Laboratory test – Able to specify transmission and major components test equipment.

- Vehicle test – knowledge of transmission in vehicle tests.

- Documentation skills – Able to describe his/her work in written form.

- Communication skills – Able to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors and customers.

- Teamwork – Considers and seeks out the impact of his/her actions within the team.  Actively seeks collaboration with internal and external team members.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.  Master’s Degree preferred.

- Basic knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and control software.

- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent time management skills.  Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, make timely decisions, and must be detail oriented.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Good English skills, driver’s license.
