Summary
An excellent opportunity for an energetic candidate who has recently completed a four year computer science or software engineering degree program and is seeking a first career focused job. This is a key position related to an increase in the quantity and rate of customer product releases. This individual will be called upon to develop, validate, automate where possible and execute system tests of Java code, script (Python and Perl) and PowerBuilder based client / server code in accordance with the organization’s SQA policy and standards. The successful candidate will have accomplished a grade point average greater than 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with a computer science or software engineering degree and will have completed coursework or have completed an internship where software test engineering knowledge and skills were developed. The position will report to the Shanghai office.
Required Job Skills
Computer Science or Software Engineering degree (4 year) from an accredited institution.
Classroom exposure to working with SQL.
Required Professional Skills:
Good interpersonal skills with team-oriented attitude.
Commitment to accuracy, quality, and attention to details while meeting deadlines.
Must write easy-to-maintain code.
Must possess good organization skills and must be a fast learner.
Considered a big PLUS:
Experience with SQL Server, Oracle or DB2 databases
Experience with Tomcat, WebSphere or Jboss
Experience with CompuWare testing tools
Measurement of Performance:
Able to execute test plans with precision and accuracy.
Is fully capable of using the Tyco Safety Products software development, process and design tools.
Communicates required changes to existing test plans.
Required to troubleshoot and correct software problems.
Required to be able to assist Software Development Engineers when trying to isolate problems to software under test.
Job Responsibilities:
Execute test cases, plans and automated scripts for both Client/Server and Web applications
Evaluate results of those tests using SQL scripts
Write new test cases and create automated scripts
Document results of those tests, including all supporting information if test fails
Supervisory and Staff Relationships:
Reports to Program/Project Manager
Work closely with Engineers, Product Managers and the product development team.
Education & Experience:
BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with focus on Computer Science) or equivalent.
