广东省外国机构服务处是广东省人民政府外事办公室下属的职能部门，是外交部及广东省人民政府指定的一家专门为外国驻穗总领事馆和其他官方、半官方机构提供中方雇员、馆舍用地和生活设施等外交服务并实施管理的事业性管理机构。

The British Council, operating in China as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, is one of the world's largest cultural relations' organizations, with operations in over 100 countries. Through our offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, we build partnerships between the UK and China in the fields of arts, science, education, training and development, and create opportunities for people through the provision of examinations, scholarships and training placements in the UK. The office in Guangzhou is the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General.

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for education and cultural relations. We build engagement and trust for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide.

Founded in 1934, our first office in China opened in Chongqing in 1943. Today, we employ nearly 500 staff in five offices in the China region (Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong). We are independent of government, but in mainland China operate as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy and Consulates-General.

We have an impressive record of achievement in our China region. Our work enables intercultural dialogue and positive social change, we support the UK’s creative and knowledge economy and we are dedicated to promoting co-operation on climate change.

You’ll know our work marketing the UK as a study destination supports over 30,000 new students a year who choose the UK as a study destination. You’ll also know us for the 300,000 people who take IELTS as well as the tens of thousand who study at our Hong Kong teaching centre annually, and the 10,000 learners and teachers who visit our language learning web sites each day.

However, this is just a part of our much wider cultural relations work. You may not know about the 200 able-bodied and disabled people who took part in our Young Advocates programme around the Beijing Paralympics, or the thousands of school children and teachers involved annually in school exchanges we coordinate. Our Climate Cool project builds networks of young school ambassadors supporting individual action as well as equipping the media with the tools they need to engage audiences in one of today’s most important international issues.
