Yahoo! Global R&D Center in Beijing is offering paid summer internship opportunities. Our internship program is designed for real-world work experience in a global research and development environment. Our interns get to work on cutting-edge problems with renowned scientists and engineers in Beijing and across the globe.

Yahoo! Global R&D Center in Beijing offers opportunities to work in the following areas of machine learning, data mining and computer science
research:

1. Advertising: Ad quality metrics; performance prediction and optimization; campaign performance optimization; behavioral targeting; user ads, & page categorization; auctions design.
2. Large scale distributed/grid/cluster computing systems and Cloud
Computing: resource scheduling, management, modeling and analysis; virtualization; fault tolerance and recovery; file system data distribution; open-source technologies like Hadoop map-reduce framework.
3. Algorithms development: developing stable, scalable, and flexible learning algorithms applicable to a large class of problems.

An ideal candidate will have

* Enrolled in B.S./M.S./Ph.D. program in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, mathematics or a related field and a strong analytical background
* Prior experience in Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Distributed Computing, Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, or Cloud Computing is a plus
* Working knowledge of at least two of the following: C/C++, Java, SQL, Perl, Python
* Ability to do creative work independently or in small teams
* Good communication skills, quantitative approach to problems
* Minimum 3-month full-time availability, 6-month preferred
