Compassion for Migrant Children LVS Program Intern

Introduction of CMC and LVS

Compassion for Migrant Children (CMC) is a nonprofit organization based in China which is dedicated to improving the lives of children of migrant workers by engaging them in social and educational programs.

One of CMC core programs, the Life-Vocational Skills (LVS) program, based at our Dongba community center, is an residential 6-month intensive training program that empowers migrant youth aged 16-20 with life, vocational, and technical skills as well as formal employment opportunities. LVS strives to ensure the professional and personal success and integration of migrant youth into the urban environment. During the weekdays, the LVS trainees attend a variety of training courses that focus on life and vocational skills, including computer skills, English training, youth education, work ethics, values and character building, and migrant community social work.

The LVS program aims to assist migrant youth in transitioning smoothly into the work force and urban environment. The program seeks to empower migrant youth with the knowledge, training, and life skills necessary to succeed both professionally and personally. The residential component of the LVS program provides the trainees with a supportive community of peers as they cope with the challenges of integrating into the working and urban environment. LVS program training courses begin in the early morning and last until the afternoon Monday through Friday. Trainees reside at the community centers Monday through Friday, and may travel home to their families if they choose on weekends.

The Intern of LVS Program assists the LVS Program Coordinator and program staff on a wide-variety of activities related to the delivery of the LVS program. The post holder will report directly to the LVS Program Coordinator and accommodation will be provided at our Dongba community center upon request.
