Position: Electromagnetics Analyst
Location:
SUMMARY:
AREVA T&D Technology Centre is a multi-discipline research and development organisation which prides itself on delivering innovative solutions within the AREVA group of companies and to other organisations across the electrical power transmission and distribution, power generation, rail transport and aerospace industries.
The Technology Centre is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the work of its Power Equipment Analysis Group.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve the modelling of transmission and distribution equipment using commercial electromagnetic finite element software. This role supports the R&D and design effort in AREVA T&D production units.
Requirements:
1. Phd in Electrical Machines or Applied Physics.
2. Solid working knowledge of the finite element analysis of electromagnetic fields, particularly with respect to electrical equipment.
3. A background in academic or industrial research, or in electrical equipment design or development would be a plus.
4. Good command of Oral and Written English skills.
5. Strong project management experience is a requirement.
6. A self-starter, with the ability to work on their own initiative.
7. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

A mechanical & CFD engineer to conduct scientific calculations using engineering software in the field of static and dynamic analysis of transmission and distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear and power electronics systems. Particularly in the seismic analysis and qualification of this equipment.
Requirements:
1. Phd in Energy & Power Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Experience of software such as Star-CD, Fluent, ANSYS, Abaqus and would be a distinct advantage.

The role will involve the modelling and presentation of power systems applications, including conventional plant, wind turbine generators and new enabling technologies.
Requirements:
1. Phd in Electrical Engineering.
2. Solid working knowledge of relevant software tools such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT, EMTDC (PSCAD),EMTP/ATP and/or MATLAB.
3. Good command of Oral and Written English skills.

1. Responsible to identify new and innovative technologies usable and beneficial to our domain
2. Responsible to perform feasibility studies in different domains related to Automation protection and control area

4. Participate to develop and protect the IP of the company (patent creation for example)

Requirements:
Education/Experience
1. PhD in Electrical/Electronics/Software Engineering or related area
2. Experience of R&D in an industrial environment, including the use of defined development processes and methodologies.
3. Experience in real time embedded software
4. Knowledge of electrical transmission & distribution industry operating practices, in particular applications in the area of Substation Automation Solutions with networking within the substation environment
5. Experience of new technologies/tools/methodologies in one or several of the following domains: simulation techniques (MathLab/Simulink for example), substation communication, embedded SW, HW.
Specific Knowledge
1. Intelligent Electronic Device and/or Digital System Control experience
2. Very good technical English language
3. Good knowledge and experience in electrical power system engineering as well as in application
4. Deeper knowledge in at least one additional domain : power system technologies, embedded or PC SW, HW, simulation techniques (in MathLab/Simulink for example), protection algorithms, substation communication.
5. Ability to have an open and curious mind, ability to learn.
6. Ability to do technology watch and to innovate to bring new solution/technology to the market place

SUMMARY:
The Innovation Engineer, as a member of the AREVA Marketing Innovation Group, is responsible for looking after Innovations in the fields of Smart Substation, Smart Grids, Micro Grids, Distributed Generation, Renewable Energy, Stability including Phasor Measurement (PMU) and Wide Area Monitoring, Control and Protection Schemes.
Responsibilities:
1. Gathering marketing requirements from the Chinese and Asian market, also Global market
2. Proposing innovations in the field of Smart Substation & Smart Grids & Micro Grids & Distributed Generation (SS/SG/MG/DG)applications in the area of Substation Automation Solutions
