Grad Trainee, Programming INTL
Dimension & Scope:
The Graduate Trainee; Programming will partake in and learn about the construction and test stages of programming for the IT Applications Development team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
? The graduate trainee may be involved in client-site work in the test stages of programming.
? Set-up and maintain client processes using specific tools and languages required.
? Learn and become proficient with all the utilities, tools and standards at Convergys.
? Communicate with internal and external clients on request status and requirements for any given request.
? Design, code, and test simple, non-complex programs using authorized languages to conform to Convergys standards, with direct supervision of more senior programmers.
? Prepare test data to validate programs under the guidance of senior programmers.
? Effectively manages time to meet objectives set forth by supervisor.
? Prepares program documentation according to Convergys standards.
? Other duties as assigned.
Education & Professional Certifications:
? Associate’s degree in related field or advanced vocational training with two to four years related experience; or
? Bachelor's degree in related field from a four-year college or university with some related work experience.
Candidate Profile:
? Basic programming knowledge acquired via education and or professional experience.
? Ability to establish and maintain quality communication with the client.
? Proficient oral and written communication skills.
? Proficient problem solving and analytical skills.
? Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
? Good organizational skills.
? Basic knowledge of UNIX, SQL, and/or Oracle.
? Proficiency in English, as well as the native language of the hiring location.
? Additional languages are desirable.
? Frequent travel (50% – 90%).
? Proficiency with various software applications programmes such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.
? Knowledge and experience of some of following: Convergys products; data migration; testing methodology and practice; telecommunications industry are preferred.
