Position Title: Pricing Production Analyst-Intern
Division: Pricing (Merchandising)
Reports to: (Position Title) Pricing Manager
Position Summary:
This position oversees (& process) all pricing and proofing components for approximately Circulars, SBD catalogs, website and related promotion materials. As the point of contact for Business Unit(s), Marketing and Merchandising, this person has the responsibility to meet all production dates and to successfully execute all pricing and promo offers; including price changes on all media. Due to the dynamics of the business, this person is required to manage through frequent promo/price changes and late breaking schedule changes while maintaining a very high degree of accuracy. Additionally, this person is responsible for ensuring all pricing/promo offers are edited, finalized, approved and accurately stated before the circular/catalog is released to print.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Price and proof all circular’s, and specialty publications (Back to Office catalog, eDMs, Monthly Specials, Tabloids, Furniture, Mail & Ship, etc.) accurately while meeting all production dates. Develop & execute production schedule; manage process and all communication between Business Unit(s), Merchandising, Pricing and any process related stakeholders. Proof all vehicles for accuracy and ensure pricing reaches the appropriate channel (Retail, Catalog, and website).
2. Create systems or process improvements that support and simplify the pricing effort and reduce the potential for pricing errors in Staples’ marketing vehicles.
3. Manage the process for circular or catalog versions, test versions and other special event print versions.
4. Manage and maintain various reports that support the circular/catalog process including the Specials Database, Offer Conflicts, Category Offers, Coupon Code Requests, etc. Also support the easy brand promise by achieving a high level of pricing accuracy in all vehicles.
Minimum Education Requirements: Masters
Preferably major in Finance, marketing (research, product marketing) or trade related disciplines.
Minimum Working Days: Four days per week

1. Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance workload effectively
2. Detail oriented with efficient and error free proofing skills

This person is responsible for mastering and implementing our pricing strategy and guidelines in both our Retail and SBD business channels. This individual will support price changes on the web and across the chain, price zone or at store level based on price shops received from 3rd party vendors. This person is also responsible for executing pricing rules (project-based) associated with all media including approximately circulars and our promotional seasons (Back to Office, Summer Promotion, Chinese New Year). The candidate will work with the field to address all pricing questions and issues received directly, or via the Merchandising operation team. This person will also work closely with the merchants to research their questions and provide pricing information to merchants and senior management to support sound business decisions and keep them aware of changes in the competitive environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor competitor prices across all zones monthly on the most sensitive items (Hypersensitive + Top 300). Based on the shop finding’s make appropriate price changes on the web and at store level.
Conduct periodical competitively shop, review and adjust prices on assigned Merchandise Classes. Regularly conduct own brand price shops to ensure these products are competitively priced and offer good value.
Ensure all media prices are input per the assigned schedule and are accurate for all versions. Also accurately execute price changes for the key promotional seasons, and periodical specials
Enter all competitor circular information into Pricing Database each week. Respond within 48 hours to all store generated pricing issues and questions. Work closely with merchants to provide pricing information to support sound business decisions. On a timely basis, inform merchants and senior management about changes in the competitive environment.
Lead & direct Pricing test to explore margin opportunities and support business decision. Distribute test result and provide recommendations for all stakeholders.
